Young teacher enthusiastic about the profession

As the Chairman of the Trade Union and Deputy Head of the Professional Department of Van Canh Secondary School (Hoai Duc, Hanoi ), Mr. Phung Chi Tan is a young teacher with many innovations and creativity in teaching. Especially, with the History subject (History - Geography), those solutions have been and are being realized, bringing many positive results.

According to Mr. Tan,educating students about local cultural heritage when studying History is the use of heritage in teaching, which contributes significantly to the innovation of teaching and learning methods. This is also one of the contents of the emulation movement "Friendly school, active students".

The young teacher and students connected with the management board of cultural heritages and historical witnesses to conduct field surveys, exchange information, take photos and record videos for documentation.

Then make a list and classify cultural heritages into two groups: tangible and intangible cultural heritages, research other sources of documents to select suitable heritages for the lesson; process documents by using 3D presentation software with virtual reality technology, make models, draw pictures... to prepare for the best teaching hours.

When teaching History in class, Mr. Tan harmoniously connected knowledge with documents about local cultural heritage, integrating with subjects such as Literature, Geography, Music, Fine Arts, etc.

At the same time, new teaching methods and techniques are used; especially the method of creating symbols in history teaching to deepen knowledge and help students develop qualities and abilities according to the orientation of the 2018 General Education Program.

During the last school year, teacher Phung Chi Tan connected the City's excellent teacher competition lesson with heritages to educate students about the cultural beauty of Hoai Duc such as: Ancestor worship, Giang Xa Communal House festival, national hero Ly Bi, Quan Ho art and won First Prize at the City level.

Mr. Tan has conducted a cluster-level topic in Hoai Duc - Thanh Xuan in the movement "Schools join hands to develop, teachers share responsibility" with a model of integrating interdisciplinary knowledge to educate students about local cultural heritage such as: Dai Bi Pagoda, Kim Hoang Painting Village, traditional festivals.

"I have taught in class and in the field at Dai Bi Pagoda with the participation of artist Dao Dinh Chung introducing Kim Hoang paintings; Miss Ngoc Han and VTV24 introducing the ao dai collection inspired by Kim Hoang red paintings; the models are teachers of Van Canh Secondary School. My teaching hours were highly appreciated by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training," said Mr. Tan.

In addition, Mr. Tan and the school organized for students to experience at the K9 Relic Site, Uncle Ho Memorial House in Van Canh Commune, the Temple of Literature Relic Site, Thang Long Imperial Citadel... to learn about the history of Thang Long - Hanoi to raise the responsibility of the young generation in preserving and conserving heritage.

Students also come to study at the Museum of Ethnology to directly interact with historical sources, create historical images for themselves, and visualize the history that took place in the past. This is a special cultural learning space, a new approach for students to acquire knowledge and at the same time develop their personality comprehensively.

Mr. Phung Chi Tan emphasized that creativity and innovation in teaching local cultural heritage has helped students love History more and have a deep understanding of local cultural heritage. From there, students are more proud, respectful and clearly see their role and responsibility in preserving and protecting cultural heritage.

Students in the school can proudly introduce, share and promote local cultural heritages in English to tourists and international friends in the program "The beauty of reading in spring", interacting with teachers in Myanmar, Indonesia, Italian writer Michael and 6 other schools in Hanoi, Hoa Binh , Nghe An.

Ms. Nguyen Kim Dung - Principal of Van Canh Secondary School said that the solutions implemented by Mr. Tan have spread to many teachers and schools in Hanoi. Mr. Tan participated in contributing ideas to the Hanoi Studies knowledge training program, writing articles to improve the quality of education on Thang Long - Hanoi History and Culture in high schools organized by Hanoi Capital University.
