V-League is flooded with foreign coaches.
The new season hasn't started yet, but the V-League is already becoming exciting with the arrival of a number of foreign coaches, most recently Ninh Binh FC, which has just introduced its new head coach from Spain.
Previously, big clubs like Hanoi FC, CAHN, Viettel , and Thanh Hoa have all had foreign coaches in their hot seats. Even Ho Chi Minh City FC – a team known for its relatively tight budget in recent years – is seriously considering hiring a foreign coach to replace Phung Thanh Phuong.
It is clear that Vietnamese football clubs are hoping that foreign strategists will bring innovation in tactics, team management skills, and a more professional coaching mindset.

Will the quality improve?
The arrival of foreign coaches has brought with it high expectations, but also considerable skepticism about whether the quality of the V-League will truly improve as hoped.
On the positive side, foreign coaches will undoubtedly bring a fresh perspective in terms of expertise and professionalism to the way the team is managed. They will also know how to build a clear playing philosophy, apply high tactical discipline, and thus promote the professional development of domestic players.
Exposure to different football cultures also helps players broaden their horizons and adapt better to the international environment. Competition among foreign coaches can also foster innovation in the playing style and tactics of each team, creating more exciting matches.

However, it's also necessary to acknowledge the challenges, as not all foreign coaches succeed in the V-League. Differences in culture, language, and especially the unique characteristics of Vietnamese football can be major obstacles.
Many foreign coaches have failed to adapt, unable to convey their philosophy to the players, or not fully understood the mentality of Vietnamese players.
It's clear that the abundance of foreign coaches in the V-League is a sign of integration and a desire to elevate Vietnamese football. However, for quality to truly improve, clubs need long-term strategies in all aspects instead of relying solely on foreign coaches.
The quality of the V-League will only improve if clubs truly understand what they need from foreign coaches and create conditions for them to best showcase their abilities, instead of simply following trends or using foreign coaches as a "means" of brand PR.
