The 32nd SEA Games will officially take place from May 5 to May 17, 2023, in the Kingdom of Cambodia, with the participation of over 12,400 athletes, coaches and staff of the delegations. The Vietnamese sports delegation attending the 32nd SEA Games, with over 1,000 members (702 athletes, 189 coaches, 10 experts), competes in 30/36 sports, with 487/583 events, striving to win 89-120 gold medals (HCV), ranking first among the participating countries.
According to the Provincial Sports Training, Coaching and Competition Center, An Giang has 3 coaches, 2 referees and 15 athletes summoned with the Vietnamese sports teams to participate in the 32nd SEA Games, with the following sports: Cycling, Taekwondo, football, Pencak Silat, Kick-boxing, swimming, weightlifting, Arnis, Kun Bokator and athletics.
Among them, athletes Nguyen Thi That, Lam Thi Kim Ngan, Nguyen Thi Thu Mai, Tran Thi Thuy Trang (cycling), Nguyen Trong Phuc, Le Tran Kim Uyen, Hua Van Huy (Taekwondo), Nguyen Thi Cam Nhi (Pencak Silat), Tran Minh Tri (weightlifting), Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai (Kun Bokator), Dinh Phuc An, Nguyen Thi Yen Linh (Arnis), Pham Van Nghia (athletics), Le Trong Phuc (swimming)... are all the golden hopes of An Giang and Vietnam sports at the 32nd SEA Games.
Cycling is the most anticipated sport at the 32nd SEA Games for An Giang sports. The women's road cycling team has 5 experienced and classy names, such as: Nguyen Thi That, Nguyen Thi Thi, Lam Thi Kim Ngan, Nguyen Thi Thu Mai and Tran Thi Thuy Trang.
Notably, at the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam, racer Nguyen Thi That won the gold medal in the individual mass start event and, together with her teammates, won the gold medal in the women's team event. Possessing the best sprinter in the region and currently among the top in Asia, Nguyen Thi That, the Vietnamese women's cycling team is highly appreciated in the events: mass start, team time trial and individual points.
With the participation of 3 athletes who are in high form and have achieved high results in continental and world competitions, Taekwondo is considered a sport that promises to bring medals at the 32nd SEA Games.
Except for Nguyen Trong Phuc, who participated in the SEA Games for the first time, the two athletes Le Tran Kim Uyen and Hua Van Huy had a very successful SEA Games, when Hua Van Huy and his teammates excellently won the gold medal in the creative team event. Meanwhile, Le Tran Kim Uyen competed with great effort, winning the silver medal in the women's individual event.
In addition, athletes Nguyen Thi Cam Nhi (Pencak Silat), Tran Minh Tri (weightlifting), Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai (Kun Bokator), Dinh Phuc An, Nguyen Thi Yen Linh (Arnis), Pham Van Nghia (athletics), Le Trong Phuc (swimming)... are also expected to achieve high results at the 32nd SEA Games.
Among them, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai is an important factor of Vietnamese sports in Kun Bokator. This is completely reasonable, when Tuyet Mai is one of 3 Vietnamese athletes who won gold medals at the 2023 Southeast Asian Kun Bokator Championship.
“Although Kun Bokator is similar to traditional martial arts, the competition rules and format are different. However, my teammates and I will try our best to achieve the best results at this SEA Games,” shared female martial artist Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai.
Director of the An Giang Province Sports Training, Coaching and Competition Center Dang Anh Kiet said that at the 32nd SEA Games, An Giang Province was one of the localities that contributed many coaches and athletes to the Vietnamese sports delegation. This is a great honor for An Giang sports, as most of An Giang's athletes participating in this SEA Games are in the group assigned to win medals. Thereby, it is expected that the province's coaches and athletes will continue to make efforts in training, practicing, and competing to complete the assigned tasks.
Immediately after the 32nd SEA Games ends, An Giang athletes will continue to train, aiming for high achievements in tournaments within the national competition system, especially the 9th Mekong Delta Sports Festival in 2023. |
