On April 28, Tan Son Nhat International Airport said that travel demand began to increase during the peak holiday of April 30.

Accordingly, it is expected that during the 5-day holiday, Tan Son Nhat airport will operate an average of 750 flights each day, an increase of about 10% compared to the current flight schedule. In particular, the flights will focus on many domestic routes.

During the two peak days of May 2 and 4, the number of flights is expected to increase to about 770. Each day, Tan Son Nhat airport will welcome about 122,000 domestic and international passengers, an increase of about 9% compared to the current number of passengers.

A noteworthy information, at present and during the April 30 holiday, VietJet flights are still operating at Terminal T1 (old domestic terminal), not operating flights at Terminal T3.

Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat airport currently only has Vietnam Airlines operating flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Van Don.

As for Vietnam Airlines, in the latest announcement, the airline said it has just postponed the plan to move all domestic flights to Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal instead of the previous plan from April 28.

"Based on reviewing actual operations, the airline will coordinate with relevant units to agree on the implementation time and update official information to passengers as soon as possible. Adjusting the time to switch all domestic flights is to ensure optimizing the passenger experience and effective synchronization between operating units at Terminal T3" - Vietnam Airlines stated.

Currently, Vietnam Airlines is operating flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi , Van Don at Terminal T3. Other domestic routes of Vietnam Airlines, along with flights of Pacific Airlines and VASCO, continue to be operated at Terminal T1 until further notice.

Other domestic airlines including Bamboo Airways and Vietravel Airlines will continue to operate at Terminal T1 as they do now.

Previously, on April 19, Tan Son Nhat Terminal T3 was officially inaugurated and put into operation, becoming a large, modern passenger terminal, with a total designed capacity of 20 million domestic passengers per year.

To meet the increased passenger demand during the holidays, Tan Son Nhat International Airport closely coordinates with units to develop plans and solutions to serve passengers and ensure operational safety. Coordinate promptly with units in implementing operational plans, promptly updating information on arriving and departing flights to regulate and allocate resources to ensure operations during peak hours.

"Airline representatives are required to be present at the counter/gate to promptly handle and inform passengers of flight delays and cancellations, to avoid passengers causing frustration, causing disturbances and disrupting security and order at the terminal, affecting operations at the airport," said a representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
