Mr. Truong Ngoc Trung, an employee of the Technical Department, Quang Ngai Province Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company, said that, following the direction of the competent authority, from the morning of November 13, the unit has mobilized maximum human resources, vehicles, supplies and materials to urgently implement the immediate solution of using soil to fill potholes and access roads. Along with that, the soil is filled with enough foundation, a layer of crushed stone (small grain size) is spread and then rolled to prevent slipping... Up to now, the route has been temporarily opened for motorbikes to travel.
Mr. Dinh Van Thai, from Son Linh commune, said he was on his way to Quang Ngai General Hospital. He was very happy to hear that the authorities had removed the barriers and allowed motorbikes to move around again because it was much less difficult.
“Since the spillway collapsed, I have had to take a detour of more than 20 kilometers, which is very inconvenient and has greatly affected my personal work. Thank you to the government for your concern and timely repairs to help people stabilize their lives,” said Mr. Bui Minh Quang, a resident of Tra Giang commune, excitedly.

According to a report from the Irrigation Management Branch No. 7, previously, heavy rains and floods had washed away two slabs at the foot of the bridge on the North bank and caused a span of the bridge slope to collapse, creating a rather wide frog-like shape… leading to structural insecurity. However, to avoid taking a long, time-consuming detour, some people still risked their lives by crossing this location to get to the other side.
Mr. Nguyen Tung Son, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Ha commune, informed that the commune has proactively issued a notice, advising people to temporarily stop traveling through Thach Nham spillway bridge; at the same time, directed the commune police and related forces to coordinate with the Irrigation Management Branch No. 7 to set up barriers and put up warning signs to prevent people and vehicles from approaching dangerous areas to ensure safety of life and property.
Also according to Mr. Nguyen Tung Son, in the long term, the commune requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Construction, and the Provincial Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company to promptly inspect and assess the current state of damage and develop an effective repair plan.
