The Investigation Police Agency of District 4, Ho Chi Minh City today detained Nguyen Thi Hanh (51 years old, residing in Cu Chi district) to expand the investigation and clarify the act of "fraudulent appropriation of property".

It is known that Hanh has 2 previous convictions for the above crime.

According to initial information, Hanh went online to buy costumes to pretend to be a customs officer working at Tan Son Nhat airport. After that, Hanh went online to high-end apartment rental brokerage sites to inquire about renting. In fact, Hanh contacted and pretended to come to see the house to get acquainted and build a relationship with the homeowner.

Hanh often dressed as a customs officer. When approaching, to gain the victim's trust, Hanh said that during the process, Tan Son Nhat airport customs seized many shipments of iPhones from abroad. Hanh could smuggle the goods out to resell at a cheap price, making a profit.

Some people trusted Hanh and gave her money. Most recently, Ms. TT (29 years old) gave Hanh 110 million VND and when she realized she had been scammed, she reported it to the police.

Through investigation and prosecution, the police detained Hanh. Initially, the subject admitted to impersonating a customs officer to commit fraud.

District 4 police request that anyone who is a victim of Nguyen Thi Hanh report soon to serve the process of expanding the investigation and handling the subject.
