(Dan Tri) - Bay Chay Ward (Ha Long, Quang Ninh) - the "capital" of tourism in Quang Ninh - has many restaurants and entertainment venues that were severely damaged by storm Yagi and cannot be repaired overnight.
Typhoon Yagi made landfall in Quang Ninh on September 7, causing serious damage to people and property. As of September 12, Quang Ninh province had 22 deaths and more than 1,600 injured. In Quang Ninh, the storm caused more than 70,000 houses to have their roofs blown off; more than 2,800 houses to be flooded and eroded; more than 3,700 electric poles to fall; 739 telecommunication poles to be damaged; more than 1,200 stations to lose contact;... When Typhoon Yagi passed, Quang Ninh province mobilized all its human and material resources to urgently overcome the consequences. However, due to the serious consequences, the recovery after the storm in this province will take a long time. According to the reporter's records, in Bai Chay ward (Ha Long city, Quang Ninh), which is known as the "capital" of tourism in Quang Ninh province, many restaurants serving tourists had their roofs blown off and collapsed by the storm. A VIP room of a restaurant in Bai Chay ward is just a pile of rubble. The tiled and corrugated iron roofs of the dining room were blown away by the storm. Taking advantage of the absence of rain, restaurant owners in Bai Chay hired workers to clean up the rubble left after Typhoon Yagi. In the photo is the restaurant of Mr. Hoang Xuan Trong (38 years old, in Bai Chay ward) devastated by Typhoon Yagi. Mr. Trong shared: "The restaurant's facilities were almost completely damaged, including: the structure, tables and chairs, refrigerators, air conditioners, ... estimated damage of about 2.8-3.2 billion VND. For now, the restaurant will hire people to clean up the rubble to have a clean space and then calculate the next step. I hope the government will consider supporting businesses like my family so that they can continue to do business." According to Mr. Trong, it will take about 3 months to restore the restaurant to its original state. Opposite Mr. Trong's restaurant, Mr. Do Van Bac's restaurant (50 years old) was also devastated by storm Yagi. Mr. Bac shared that his family's entire restaurant of more than 1,000 square meters was damaged, with estimated damage of more than 5 billion VND. "The family restaurant provides jobs for about 30 workers. If it cannot be restored, many people will lose their jobs. We hope the government will consider providing some financial support for the restaurants to recover after the storm. Even if there is money to fix it, it will take about 4 months to complete," Mr. Bac said sadly. A restaurant of about 5,000 square meters in a prime location in Bai Chay ward, overlooking Ha Long Bay, was destroyed by storm Yagi. The owners of this restaurant are surveying the damage to plan to hire people to demolish and clean up the rubble. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thuc (57 years old), restaurant owner, said that storm Yagi destroyed the restaurant, causing a loss of about 30 billion VND. "The storm caused almost 100% damage to the restaurant, making it impossible to restore or utilize. If we were to rebuild it in the future, we would have to reduce the area to suit our financial capacity. If we could find the money, it would still take 4 months to complete the new construction," Mr. Thuc shared.
