Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang received the Secretary General of the German FES Foundation on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of FES presence in Vietnam.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang received Ms. Sabine Fandrych, Secretary General of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Foundation, Germany.

At the reception, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang welcomed the visit of Ms. Sabine Fandrych, congratulated the German FES Foundation on successfully organizing the 100th anniversary celebration in Berlin, and acknowledged the positive contributions of FES in promoting the Vietnam-Germany bilateral relationship in recent times.

The Deputy Minister affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and highly appreciates the role and voice of Germany in the European Union and in the international arena; expressed his delight at the positive development of the Vietnam-Germany Strategic Partnership with great potential for expansion, especially in the context of the two countries aiming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025. In order to practically celebrate this important milestone, the Deputy Minister proposed that the two sides coordinate to organize exchange activities, exchange high-level delegations and strengthen cooperation in the fields of science - technology, innovation, highereducation and training of high-quality human resources.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang also congratulated the Federal Republic of Germany on its new government , expressing her hope that the two countries' senior leaders will soon meet, contributing to promoting the effective implementation of existing cooperation plans.

At the reception, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and Ms. Sabine Fandrych agreed to continue coordinating to organize meaningful activities in 2025, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations.

Regarding the relationship between the two Parties, the Deputy Minister highly appreciated the pioneering role of the FES Foundation when it was present in Vietnam since 1990, contributing to promoting the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) - a relationship that was formed in the 1980s and has continuously developed strongly. The Deputy Minister emphasized that the two Parties have established an effective annual dialogue mechanism, in which the 10th Dialogue scheduled to take place in 2025 will be an important milestone in enhancing mutual understanding and trust.

Secretary General Sabine Fandrych expressed her pleasure to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the FES Office in Vietnam, affirming that Vietnam is a key partner of Germany in the region. She emphasized that FES will continue to accompany cooperation programs for sustainable and inclusive development in Vietnam.

Ms. Sabine Fandrych agreed with the Deputy Minister's assessments of Vietnam-Germany relations and pledged that FES Vietnam will continue to support policy research initiatives, institutional reforms, promoting the role of youth in social life, ensuring gender equality and community programs. The two sides agreed to continue coordinating meaningful activities in 2025, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations.
