The funeral took place in the solemn atmosphere of the State Funeral of former President Tran Duc Luong.

To facilitate the Consulate and the Vietnamese community in the host country to express their condolences and gratitude to former President Tran Duc Luong, the Consulate General opened a condolence book in memory of comrade Tran Duc Luong on May 24 and 25, 2025, both in person and online.

Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung and all staff and family members offered incense to commemorate former President Tran Duc Luong, a loyal and dedicated leader who made great contributions to the cause of national construction and development during more than 50 years of revolutionary activities and held many important positions in the Party and State.

Consul General of Vietnam in Guangzhou Nguyen Viet Dung read the eulogy.

Speaking at the Memorial Ceremony, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung emotionally recalled the milestones in the life and career of former President Tran Duc Luong, especially his important contributions in promoting economic development during the renovation period and expanding foreign relations, gradually affirming Vietnam's position in the international community.

In particular, former President Tran Duc Luong and the Politburo directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to negotiate and successfully sign documents on land border demarcation and the Gulf of Tonkin with China, contributing to strengthening national sovereignty.

Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Governor of Guangdong Province Truong Quoc Tri signed the condolence book.

On May 24, Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province Truong Quoc Tri and Vice Chairman of the People's Government of Guangzhou City Ho Hao visited and signed the condolence book, expressing their condolences and deep sympathy to the Party, State and family of former President Tran Duc Luong for this great loss.

During the meetings with the leaders of Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung sincerely thanked Mr. Truong Quoc Tri and Mr. Ho Hao for coming to express condolences to the Consulate General and through the Consulate General to the Party, State and people of Vietnam as well as the family of former President Tran Duc Luong.

The Consul General emphasized that the leaders of Guangdong province and Guangzhou city visited and signed the condolence book to commemorate former President Tran Duc Luong, demonstrating their respect for the relationship between the two Parties and two countries as well as their affection and respect for comrade Tran Duc Luong personally and his contributions to promoting Vietnam-China relations.

Many representatives of the Consulate, businesses, overseas Vietnamese, and international students came to pay their respects, signed the condolence book, and sent flowers and condolences. Many Consulates General sent condolences through the online condolence book, expressing gratitude for the great contributions of former President Tran Duc Luong in cultivating and strengthening relations between Vietnam and other countries in particular and the international community in general.
