Belarusian Prime Minister successfully concludes official visit to Vietnam

Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Roman Golovchenko and the high-level Belarusian government delegation have departed Hanoi , successfully concluding their official visit to Vietnam (December 6-9) at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

On the afternoon of December 9th, seeing off the delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus Nguyen Van Ngu, and several officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Representing Belarus was Ambassador to Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou.

During his visit, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Roman Golovchenko laid a wreath at the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh and the memorial to the fallen heroes.

Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko had several important activities, including: paying courtesy calls on General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Vo Van Thuong; attending the official welcoming ceremony, holding talks with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and witnessing the signing of cooperation documents between the two countries, as well as attending an official reception.

During the meetings and talks, Vietnamese leaders welcomed Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko's official visit to Vietnam and congratulated Belarus on its many successes in maintaining political stability, developing the country, ensuring social welfare, and enhancing its position in the region; expressing appreciation for the assistance of the Government and people of Belarus throughout the years. They also affirmed that despite recent changes in the world, Vietnam and Belarus have maintained their traditional relationship and further developed cooperation in human resource training for Vietnam.

The leaders of the two countries acknowledged the positive developments in relations between Vietnam and Belarus; expressing confidence that the visit would create new momentum to promote the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus in the future. The two sides exchanged views on several major directions and measures to elevate the traditional friendship between the two countries to a new level, share experiences, and strengthen comprehensive cooperation.

On this occasion, the two countries signed bilateral cooperation documents including: an Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons for the Continued Execution of Sentences; an Agreement on Visa Exemption for Holders of Ordinary Passports; a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation and Information Exchange in the Field of Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection; and an Agreement on Cooperation in the Official Dissemination of Vietnamese National Standards in Belarus.

During the visit, on the afternoon of December 8th, after holding talks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko visited the Hanoi Flagpole and enjoyed Vietnamese coffee. Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko also visited the Temple of Literature, met with Hanoi city leaders, worked in Hung Yen province, visited Ha Long city (Quang Ninh province), and participated in several other activities.

The official visit of Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko was the first visit to Vietnam by a Belarusian head of government in 12 years. The visit concluded successfully, creating new momentum for the development of relations between the two countries in all fields.
