Prime Minister requests Brunei to grant more fishing licenses to Vietnamese fishing vessels

VTV.vn - On October 28, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam on the occasion of attending the ASEAN Summit.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully conveyed the regards of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to the Sultan of Brunei.

The Prime Minister affirmed that relevant ministries and branches of Vietnam will actively coordinate with Brunei to prepare all aspects for the upcoming visit to Vietnam by the King and Queen, achieving good and substantive results.

The Sultan of Brunei was pleased to see that the relationship between Vietnam and Brunei Darussalam continues to develop well. Assessing the potential for promoting cooperation in the coming time, the Sultan of Brunei said that the two countries still have a lot of room and potential that needs to be exploited and promoted better, such as oil and gas, seafood, tourism, especially the joint venture of Halal food processing in Vietnam.

Regarding the direction of bilateral cooperation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the two economies are highly complementary, and asked Brunei to continue creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to cooperate in all mutually beneficial fields; grant more licenses for Vietnamese fishing vessels and fishermen to catch aquatic and seafood products in Brunei's waters; and support Vietnam in granting certificates, producing Halal food and taking advantage of Vietnam's rich and abundant raw materials.
