New York Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and rang the opening bell to open the trading session on the morning of September 21.

The Vietnamese Government leader visited the world's largest stock exchange at the invitation of the NYSE leadership. Welcoming the Prime Minister at the headquarters door, NYSE Vice President John Tuttle said he was very happy to have Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visit.

"We are ready to help Vietnamese businesses list on the NYSE and cooperate in cross-listing on each other's markets," said Mr. John Tuttle.

After talking with NYSE leaders and writing in the guestbook, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stepped up to the podium and rang the bell to open the trading session of the day at 9:30 a.m.

The Head of the Vietnamese Government expressed his honor to be invited to visit and ring the bell at the New York Stock Exchange for the second time. He said he was very impressed with the NYSE with a capitalization of up to 40,000 billion USD.

The Prime Minister asked the NYSE to inform investors about the favorable investment and business environment in Vietnam on the basis of the warm political relationship between Vietnam and the US, especially after the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

He hopes that NYSE will encourage businesses to invest in Vietnam and support the connection between the Vietnamese stock market with the NYSE and the world's leading stock exchanges; at the same time, provide technical support and human resource training for Vietnam in this field.

One of the most familiar images of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on financial news is the loud bell that signals the opening or closing of the world's largest stock exchange.

The NYSE said that ringing the bell is not only a tradition but also important to the operation of the market, ensuring that no trading takes place before the opening (9:30 a.m.) or after the closing (4 p.m.).

In May 2022, during his working trip to the US, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also visited and knocked the gavel to end the trading session of the day at NYSE.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is on a working trip to the US from September 17-23, passing through three cities: San Francisco, Washington, and New York to attend meetings at the United Nations General Assembly, combined with bilateral activities.
