Prime Minister requests development of traditional medicine products to serve tourists

The Prime Minister requested to focus on developing and diversifying types of services and products as well as improving the quality of traditional medicine services associated with health care, to serve tourism needs.

The Prime Minister has just issued Decision No. 1289/QD-TTg on the plan for developing Vietnamese Traditional Medicine and the Vietnam Oriental Medicine Association in the new period. One of the important contents is to focus on developing and diversifying traditional medicine services and products; improving the quality of traditional medicine services associated with health care and tourism services.

To implement the plan, the Decision requires the construction and completion of a database on medicinal herbs and traditional medicines linked with national and specialized databases; the construction of a database of information on traditional medicine services and products for tourists to serve the management, operation and data lookup work, linked with the national database on tourism.

Research and propose the development of policies related to trade promotion to export traditional medicine products, including high-quality human resources, treatment methods, services, and traditional medicine products to international markets to serve health care and tourism needs.

The Prime Minister requested to proactively integrate and improve the effectiveness of international cooperation, promote the building and promotion of the image and brand of Vietnamese traditional medicine in the international arena. Expand and diversify cooperation channels and forms; proactively and actively coordinate between agencies, levels and sectors in implementing international integration and cooperation in the field of traditional medicine. Promote cooperation with international, regional and national organizations, especially countries with developed traditional medicine to attract investment...

In particular, the Prime Minister requested to propagate and raise awareness and responsibility for the development of Vietnamese Traditional Medicine and the Vietnam Oriental Medicine Association in the new period. Because developing traditional medicine is contributing to preserving the identity and developing the national medicinal treasure, traditions and cultural identity of Vietnam…/.
