The season of ripening star apples is also associated with the memories of many people in the West. Because here star apples often grow scattered along the banks of rivers, canals, and ditches along the vast rice fields.

When the summer-autumn rice in the fields sprouts young shoots, it is also the time when the star apples are ripe. Children in the countryside often invite each other to pick star apples every afternoon after school.

Tram is a perennial tree with flexible and sturdy branches and leaves, making children love to climb to enjoy the joy of just reaching out lightly to pick the fruit and put it in their mouth to eat.

The plums grow in bunches like grapes. You can pick the whole bunch and sit on a branch to enjoy the field breeze, while sipping the sweet, ripe, purple-black plums.

Because it was a readily available gift from the countryside, the children did not bother to pick it up and save it, sitting on the tree to eat it until they were bored. The next day after school, they remembered to go to the field to pick star apples. And under the star apple tree was the sky of childhood with extremely interesting games of hide and seek and marbles.

Perhaps that is why, when they grow up, some young people who cannot stay in their hometown to celebrate the plum blossom season feel nostalgic.

Suddenly walking on the street, I saw ripe star apples for sale at the corner of a red light intersection, so I stopped to buy a few hundred grams to bring home. Because somewhere, every time I see star apples, it brings back a part of the childhood memories of the children of the West, always beautiful over the years.

Coming to Bay Nui this season, along provincial road 941, provincial road 948 connecting Thoai Son - Tri Ton - Tinh Bien districts ( An Giang province), the myrtle trees growing naturally in the fields and along the road are in full bloom.

Ripe star fruit has a black outer shell like coal, purple inside, sweet taste mixed with a little bit of astringency, often eaten with salt and chili will be more delicious.

Because the tree grows naturally, the raw fruit is very hard and astringent, so there are no pests or diseases. When fully ripe, no fertilizer or preservatives are used, so many people love it and seek to buy and enjoy it.
