Tien Giang: Sharing difficulties with the disabled and orphans

In order to improve the material and spiritual life of people with disabilities (PWD) and orphans (ORC), the Association for the Support of Poor Patients, the Disabled and Orphans of Tien Giang Province (hereinafter referred to as the Provincial Sponsorship Association) has implemented many support and assistance activities through specific and practical actions, helping PWD and ORC have more determination to rise up in life.

Identifying the work of caring for and ensuring policies and regimes for people with disabilities and disabled people as an important task, the Association has implemented many programs and policies for these subjects; at the same time, to raise awareness and responsibility of the community towards people with disabilities and disabled people, the Association has promoted propaganda on policies and guidelines for people with disabilities and child protection and care; social responsibility towards people with disabilities and disabled people; focusing on propaganda and setting examples of typical people with disabilities who have risen up in life...

Provincial Sponsorship Association gives gifts to PWDs in Cai Lay district.

In order for PWDs and TMCs to be cared for and enjoy policies according to regulations, the Provincial Support Association has coordinated with relevant units to organize training on law and provide legal aid for PWDs. Advise and guide PWDs and their families to prepare documents according to regulations to enjoy social protection. In particular, the Association at all levels regularly surveys, grasps information, living conditions, and difficult circumstances of the subjects to promptly care and encourage.

In addition, in order to focus on taking care of the disabled and the disabled, the Provincial Sponsorship Association has coordinated with relevant sectors and units to select truly disadvantaged subjects to help in accordance with regulations; at the same time, mobilized philanthropists and sponsors to organize many forms of giving, donating, and contributing to beneficiaries.

In 2024 alone, the Association received contributions from individuals, groups, and businesses in cash and in-kind donations of more than 24.6 billion VND. From the above contributions, the Provincial Sponsorship Association has implemented the programs: "Supporting disabled and orphaned children to go to school", in the 2024 - 2025 school year, it supported 116 poor, disabled, and orphaned students of primary, secondary and high schools in the province, with a total amount of more than 132 million VND; awarded 920 scholarships to students in difficult circumstances, with an amount of over 664 million VND. Implemented the programs: "Bringing light to the poor blind", "Bowl of love porridge - Charity meals" in hospitals.

In the first quarter of 2025, the Association continued to maintain strong social resources, with a total budget of nearly 5 billion VND; of which more than 3.9 billion VND came from affiliated branches. These figures not only reflect operational efficiency but also clearly demonstrate the trust of society in this charitable organization.

From free surgery programs, transportation support, charity houses, scholarships, bicycles, to free meals and gifts on holidays, the Association has helped thousands of PWDs and TMC improve their living conditions, opening up hope for a brighter future.

In particular, in the past time, through mobilized resources from units, the Provincial Sponsoring Association maintained the form of giving health insurance cards to poor households, near-poor households, poor students, orphans, and lonely elderly people; more than 2,650 health insurance cards were handed to cases in need of assistance.

Chairman of the Provincial Sponsorship Association Ly Hoang Chieu said that the Provincial Sponsorship Association always receives attention from provincial leaders, departments and related sectors. In addition, traditional sponsors still maintain financial support for humanitarian and social charity activities, contributing to creating conditions for the Association to carry out its tasks, achieving and exceeding the set targets and plans.

In 2025, the Association received financial support from many traditional enterprises and new organizations and units. This is the basis for us to expect that the activities of the Provincial Sponsorship Association will be implemented more effectively in the coming time.
