Last night, July 28, the Gifted High School, Ho Chi Minh City National University held a ceremony to honor Dr. Le Ba Khanh Trinh, former Head of the Math Group, and Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, former Vice Principal of the Gifted High School, Head of the Information Technology Group, in a solemn and warm atmosphere.

At the ceremony, the leadership of the Gifted High School affirmed and paid tribute to the names of the two teachers associated with the brilliant achievements of the "iron fist" named Math - IT of the Gifted High School and more than that, the achievements of the Vietnamese team participating in international Math and IT Olympiads.

During his time working with the Gifted High School as a professional team leader, Dr. Le Ba Khanh Trinh led the math team to many outstanding achievements with 171 national excellent student awards, including 14 first prizes, 47 second prizes, 63 third prizes, 47 consolation prizes and 19 international Olympic medals, including: 5 gold medals, 9 silver medals, 3 bronze medals and 2 honorary certificates.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, who was Vice Principal of the Gifted High School from 2007 to 2018, also directed and managed the school's general activities. Dr. Thanh Hung made great contributions to the continuous development of the Gifted High School in national competitions for excellent students with 23 first prizes, 151 second prizes, 213 third prizes, 152 consolation prizes, and 27 regional and international Olympic medals.

At the same time, as the head of the IT team, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung led the IT team to achieve national achievements including 17 first prizes, 71 second prizes, 110 third prizes, 57 consolation prizes, especially 17 regional and international Olympic medals, including 1 gold medal, 9 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals.

In addition, there are many awards and achievements of the group under the leadership of the two teachers in other academic arenas.

With the above outstanding achievements, at the gratitude ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, presented commemorative medals to Mr. Le Ba Khanh Trinh and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung.

At the ceremony, for the first time, Dr. Le Ba Khanh Trinh, Nguyen Thanh Hung, Tran Nam Dung and Dao Duy Nam played and sang the song "The Exciting Youth".

This is Russian music - the country where the four doctors studied together. Among them, Dr. Le Ba Khanh Trinh and Dr. Tran Nam Dung studied at Moscow State University; Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung studied at Lipetsk State Pedagogical University; Dr. Dao Duy Nam studied at Saint Petersburg University of Electrical Engineering (Russia). After graduating, all four of them worked for a long time at the Gifted High School in many different positions. They spent their youth, adolescence studying, living together and later became colleagues.

It is known that Dr. Le Ba Khanh Trinh has left the position of head of the math team and will retire from March 2025, and Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung will retire from August 2025.

However, because of their love for mathematics, students and the school, the two teachers will continue to accompany the Gifted High School as consultants in the work of nurturing excellent students.
