New direction

According to our observations at Tam Ky market, the buying and selling atmosphere was not too bustling but it had overcome the sluggish and deserted scene of a few months ago. At all the stalls selling clothes, shoes, cosmetics, seafood, fruits, etc., vendors arranged QR codes for people to conveniently pay after shopping. Many customers were satisfied when they could choose to pay by cash or non-cash payment.

According to observations, goods at Tam Ky market are quite rich in variety, diverse in models, with clear origin, meeting the shopping needs of consumers.

Talking to us, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong - a clothing trader at Tam Ky market said that in the past, she only sold goods directly at the counter. Seeing that the number of shoppers did not affect sales, she sold both directly at the counter and online through social networking platforms such as Zalo, Facebook, etc.

“I often post eye-catching images of products on Zalo and Facebook for customers to choose from. I also use livestream to stimulate customers’ shopping,” said Ms. Hong.

Ms. Vu Thi Thanh Nga - Head of Tam Ky Market Management Board said that although it has not been widely applied, it is possible to record the trend of selling via livestream of small traders in the market.

This is an inevitable direction for more convenient sales, thereby increasing the ability to interact and trade goods. Many retailers selling directly or through online channels have organized discount and promotion programs similar to supermarkets or convenience stores to stimulate shopping...

Access to new technology

Digitalization and digital economy are becoming a widespread wave, penetrating the business activities of small traders in traditional markets.

At Hoi An market, some traders have accessed sales management software such as KiotViet, “Sales Book”… The advantages of these new technology software help traders save time and manage sales more closely.

Ms. Tran Hoang Hoa - a fashion retailer at Hoi An market said that before using the "Sales Book" software, she often had to search for new items, compare old items, and sometimes did not know where the new shirt was to quickly introduce and sell it to customers.

Since applying the “Sales Book” software, trading goods has become very convenient. “Just install the application on my phone or computer and I can easily update profit and loss management - debt; clearly understand sales revenue and costs; create professional websites and sales catalogs; have an AI assistant to intelligently analyze profit and loss; monitor effectively, accurately, optimize financial management; monitor and automatically send debt reminders to customers; integrate reconciliation with personal accounts without having to download bank statements...

"Previously, during busy times, I had to hire more workers to help, but now with new technology, the work is smoother and saves on labor costs," said Ms. Hoa.

The digitalization trend is growing stronger and stronger, traders in traditional markets have approached sales management software to get effective support from digital technology .

Ms. Do Thi Hien - Head of Trade Management Department (Department of Industry and Trade) said that up to now, most localities in the province have established community digital technology teams at the village and block levels. Thereby, guiding traders to deploy 4.0 market models to promote digital transformation and application of information technology in business activities.

Quang Nam is increasingly promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation in trading and trade promotion activities. The change is the application of trade management technologies more and more widely in the small trader community, leading to the movement of trading in traditional markets becoming more modern and convenient.
