Asian-European "cultural essence" meets in the sky of Da Nang

On the evening of May 31, the People's Committee of Da Nang City coordinated with Sun Group to organize the opening ceremony of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2025 (DIFF 2025) with the theme "Da Nang - New Era".

Attending the opening ceremony were Party Central Committee members: Nguyen Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Tran Quang Phuong, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Nguyen Van Quang, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee.

In his opening speech, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Le Trung Chinh said: This year's festival is not only a space for experiencing the pinnacle, full of emotions of light technology, art, music ... but also a harmony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Da Nang City, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, and the reunification of the country.

DIFF 2025 will feature 10 teams from Vietnam, Finland, Poland, Canada, China, Portugal, the United Kingdom, South Korea and Italy. Each team will have 20-22 minutes to perform fireworks displays based on the theme of each night.

DIFF 2025 also marks a new milestone when for the first time in Vietnam, the most modern outdoor Sky AR technology is applied, on a huge experience area of ​​600,000m² with about 10 million pixels.

After the Opening Ceremony, the host team Da Nang (Vietnam 1) and the Joho Pyro team (Finland) had performances with the theme Cultural Essence.

In 20 minutes, with more than 5,000 fireworks, the Da Nang team led the audience on an emotional journey, discovering the advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity. Divided into chapters: Blending - Honoring - Integrating - Pioneering and Glory, it recounted the journey of Vietnamese culture reaching the world .

From the effects of sparkling rain fireworks, soft color-changing fireworks to the waterfall fireworks, fireworks exploding in unison like waves sweeping across the space, the audience is caught up in a flow of emotions from deep to explosive.

The performance recreated the story of a vibrant, integrated and constantly developing city, with the beloved image of the country and the Marble Mountains appearing in the night sky, blending with the ocean waves, as if sending a message of connection and identity of the city by the ocean.

Team Finland brings a deep and intense atmosphere with the theme: Nordic Light, the story of a nation living between the sea and ice, from thousands of small islands. The reigning champion of DIFF 2024 continues to "launch" water cannons - the "secret" that contributed to its success last year.

From the surface of the Han River, the fireworks seem to rise from the water, glide gently, then suddenly erupt violently like waves hitting the cliffs. The light effects move gracefully like undercurrents, fiercely reminding people of the harsh survival journey of the remote islanders.

And there was no shortage of medium-range and high-range artillery fire. The sky lit up with bright green, purple and pink fireworks, flashing like the aurora borealis, a magical natural phenomenon of Northern Europe.

The Finnish team's performance brought a lot of emotions to the audience.

More specifically, Vietnamese music was used by the other team, interwoven with fan-shaped fireworks, swirling like flying storks, bringing a magical moment of intersection between two Asian and European cultures. It was also a friendly greeting, showing the integration and respect for local culture of the JoHo Pyro team.

With the theme “Da Nang – New Era”, DIFF 2025 has many special features compared to previous fireworks festivals. The event also carries a message marking the 50-year journey of integration and development of Da Nang city; expressing the aspiration and determination of Da Nang to enter a new era - the era of national development.

Following the opening, fireworks nights are then held every Saturday night in the following weeks, with a one-week break before the finale. The themes and participating teams are:

• Night 2 (June 7): Creative arts, between Vietnam 2–Poland.
• Night 3 (June 14): Journey of connection, between Canada–China.
• Night 4 (June 21): Sustainable development, Portugal–UK.
• Night 5 (June 28): Technology leads the way, between Korea–Italy.
• Final Night (July 12): Welcoming the new era.
