
Two investment promotion conferences in Tokyo and Osaka attracted a large number of Japanese delegates, demonstrating the strong interest of the Japanese business community in the potential of Tay Ninh province.
On November 19 in Tokyo, the "Tay Ninh Province Investment Promotion Conference in Japan" organized by the province in coordination with the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan brought together provincial leaders, representatives of Vietnamese diplomatic agencies and many Japanese enterprises and economic organizations.

In his opening speech, Mr. Pham Tan Hoa - Vice Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee - emphasized that the Vietnam - Japan relationship is at its best stage of development with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework established in 2023, creating a solid foundation for expanding substantive cooperation in all fields. Tay Ninh province currently has 176 Japanese foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total investment capital of more than 1.26 billion USD. All enterprises operate effectively, comply with the law and have a sustainable attachment to the locality. Mr. Pham Tan Hoa affirmed that Tay Ninh province prioritizes attracting high-quality investment, taking efficiency - technology - environment as criteria. He pledged that the province will create a transparent investment environment, open procedures and consider the success of enterprises as the success of the province.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu assessed that Vietnam and Japan are maintaining a foundation of deep trust and effective cooperation from politics, economics to people-to-people exchanges. The Ambassador emphasized Tay Ninh's strategic position in the connecting axis of Ho Chi Minh City - Cambodia - Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) mainland, along with the heavily invested infrastructure system, abundant young labor force and the receptive spirit of the provincial government. According to Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu, the Embassy will continue to accompany Japanese enterprises interested in investing in Tay Ninh province and promote the implementation of specific and sustainable projects.

On the Japanese side, Mr. Hirano Kenichi - Vice President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Tokyo - cited the organization's survey data showing that more than 56% of Japanese enterprises in Vietnam plan to expand operations in the next 1-2 years, the highest rate in ASEAN. Vietnam is becoming an attractive consumer market thanks to its population exceeding 100 million people and rapidly increasing per capita income. Investment trends are also expanding beyond the two major cities to localities with abundant land funds and resources, in which Tay Ninh is a bright spot thanks to its advantages in connectivity, industrial development and logistics. Mr. Hirano emphasized that JETRO will continue to support Japanese enterprises through programs connecting Vietnamese - Japanese startups, promoting local component procurement to increase production value in Vietnam and supporting enterprises in recruiting senior Vietnamese personnel.
Sharing from the perspective of a long-standing business, Mr. Katsuhiko Usui - General Director of Sapporo Vietnam - said that Sapporo Group surveyed many provinces and cities before deciding to invest in Tay Ninh (at that time, it belonged to Long An province) 16 years ago. The province is located near Ho Chi Minh City, convenient for product distribution and export thanks to seaport - river connection. More importantly, the spirit of companionship of the local government during the project preparation process, clear instructions on administrative procedures and quick handling, creating trust and peace of mind for investors. During the COVID-19 period, the timely support of the province helped Sapporo maintain production, while many businesses in other areas had to temporarily suspend operations. Mr. Usui realized that Japanese businesses in Tay Ninh received rare close support and cohesion; The infrastructure is constantly being improved, the industrial zones are being systematically invested, and the clean land fund is abundant, all of which create very favorable conditions for new businesses. He hopes that Japanese businesses looking for opportunities in Vietnam will pay more attention to Tay Ninh province, and at the same time, affirms that Sapporo is ready to share investment experience.
The conference in Tokyo concluded with the signing of many important memorandums of understanding, including cooperation between Obayashi Corporation and Tay Ninh Economic Zone Management Board on supporting Japanese enterprises in hydrogen energy conversion in industrial parks; between Toyota Long An and Corolla Fukusima Corporation on expanding investment capital in Tay Ninh.

Previously, on November 17 in Osaka, the "Tay Ninh Investment Promotion Conference in the Kansai Region" organized by the province in coordination with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka also attracted about 120 Japanese delegates. In his opening speech, Mr. Pham Tan Hoa affirmed that Kansai is a key economic region with leading strength in industry, trade and innovation. He expressed his hope that Tay Ninh can expand substantial and long-term cooperation with the entire Kansai region. He also said that Tay Ninh province has established relations with Hyogo, Wakayama, Ibaraki and Okayama provinces of Japan.
Vietnamese Consul General in Osaka Ngo Trinh Ha emphasized that the conference contributed to strengthening trade - investment - tourism relations between Tay Ninh and Japan, and affirmed that the diplomatic agency will continue to accompany to put cooperation initiatives into practice.
In Osaka, many cooperation agreements were also signed, such as an agreement to establish a partnership between Long An International Port and Kobe Port; a cooperation agreement between the Vietnam - Japan Economic Promotion Association and the Tay Ninh Department of Industry and Trade on supporting local businesses to display and export products to Japan.
On this occasion, Tay Ninh province presented the "Community Bookcase" to Cay Tre Community Vietnamese School in Japan.
On the sidelines of the conferences, many Japanese enterprises shared positive assessments of the investment environment in Tay Ninh. In an interview with VNA reporters, Mr. Kamibayashiyama Masao - General Director of Sumitomo Forestry Vietnam Co., Ltd., an enterprise investing in Tay Ninh since 2010 - said that the province's location near Ho Chi Minh City and its favorable connection with the Mekong Delta's raw material sources help enterprises develop stably. He assessed that Tay Ninh will continue to be a fast-growing region in the South. However, he expected the province to promote administrative reforms to shorten the time for processing licensing procedures.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tokumoto Ryuji - representative of Shoko Bussan company - expressed his desire to promote two-way trade between Vietnam and Japan, especially the export of Vietnamese coffee to Japan, a field with much room for growth.
The two investment promotion conferences in Tokyo and Osaka not only helped Tay Ninh introduce its potential, policies and development orientation, but also provided an opportunity to listen to direct assessments from Japanese promotion organizations and enterprises. The positive comments from JETRO, Sapporo and Japanese enterprises, along with the strong commitment of the provincial leaders and Vietnamese diplomatic agencies, show that Tay Ninh is gradually affirming its position as a "safe - friendly - effective investment destination".
During the working trip, the delegation of Tay Ninh province also worked with many organizations and businesses in Tokyo, Okayama and Yamanashi, promising to open up new directions of cooperation to bring the economic and trade relations between Tay Ninh and Japan to new heights.
