The course aims to equip students with the skills to take fundus photographs correctly, and the skills to use Cybersight AI technology to support reading and grading lesions on fundus photographs. At the same time, it guides and advises patients with suspected retinal lesions to timely specialized examination, diagnosis and treatment services.
Diabetic Retinopathy is one of the most common complications of Diabetes. The disease progresses silently, most patients do not know they have the disease until it is in the late stages, which can cause permanent blindness even when treated. The application of Cybersight AI artificial intelligence developed by Orbis and applied globally supports reading and grading retinal damage, helping to detect early Diabetic Retinopathy and many other retinal diseases.
The course is taught directly by leading lecturers of the Department of Ophthalmology, Hanoi Medical University. The training program combines theory, practice and exams to assess students' abilities. At the end of the course, students are awarded a certificate of continuing education (CME).

After the training, trainees will carry out fundus photography examination activities for patients with Diabetes and Hypertension at the facility, connect with specialized units treating retinal diseases in the province to provide timely consultation and treatment for patients with detected fundus lesions, and coordinate interdisciplinary teams to effectively monitor and manage Diabetic Retinopathy for people in the province.
This is an activity within the framework of the project "Comprehensive eye care for the community" implemented by Orbis in collaboration with partners in Nam Dinh, Nghe An and Can Tho . Accordingly, 6 medical facilities in the three provinces of this project will be sponsored with Nidek fundus cameras to diagnose communities at high risk of retinal diseases such as patients with diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, etc.
