Honoring outstanding elderly people in the patriotic emulation movement

Speaking at the Program, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Duong Van Tien affirmed: Over the past 30 years, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Elderly Association has continuously grown, becoming a solid spiritual support, actively caring for the lives and promoting the role of the elderly. From the Provincial Representative Board with a modest number of members, the Association now has over 182,000 members, operating in 172 grassroots associations.

In the period of 2021-2025, the association at all levels continues to affirm its core role in caring for and promoting the role of the elderly. Each year, the whole province organizes longevity celebrations for about 21,000 elderly people. Health care is focused on, with over 71,000 elderly people having health monitoring books, over 30,000 elderly people receiving free medical examinations and medicine.

Elderly people in the whole province actively participate in economic development. Currently, there are nearly 1,200 seniors who are farm and business owners; more than 1,300 people are good at doing business in many fields. Associations at all levels also actively mobilize resources to support members in difficulty; participate in social security work, Party and government building, environmental protection, preservation of cultural identity, contributing to building new rural areas and civilized urban areas.

Over the past 5 years, the elderly in the province have donated over 761,000m² of land, contributed over 104,000 working days and more than 16 billion VND to participate in building roads and welfare projects, demonstrating their responsibility and heart to the community...

Recognizing and praising the important contributions of the elderly to the development of the province, comrade Duong Van Tien requested that all levels of the association continue to innovate the content and methods of operation; focus on developing models and clubs suitable to the conditions of each locality, meeting the needs and aspirations of members.

In particular, the elderly continue to promote their role and set a good example in propagating and mobilizing their children, families and communities to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's policies, especially the arrangement, merger and streamlining of the apparatus towards effectiveness and efficiency - a political task that is being strongly implemented today...

Leaders of the Provincial Association of the Elderly awarded Certificates of Merit to outstanding members in the emulation movement "Old Age - Bright Example" for the period 2021-2025.

On this occasion, 10 collectives and 30 outstanding individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in association work; The Provincial Association of the Elderly awarded Certificates of Merit to 25 individuals with outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement "Old Age - Bright Example" for the period 2021-2025.
