Summary of local defense work and national defense and security education work in 2023

(LĐ online) - On the morning of December 6, at the Provincial Military Command, a conference was held to review local defense work and defense and securityeducation work in 2023 and deploy tasks for 2024.

Comrade Tran Van Hiep - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Colonel Nguyen Binh Son - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command chaired the Conference.

Attending the Conference were comrades in the Provincial Party Standing Committee and representatives of the Military Region 7 Command, the Provincial People's Council Standing Committee, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Standing Committee, the Provincial Party Committee's committees, departments, branches and sectors of the province and leaders of 12 districts and cities.

In carrying out local defense work, functional agencies and localities have proactively propagated to cadres, party members and people to understand the Party's guidelines, policies and viewpoints, and the State's laws and policies on defense, building and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.

Carrying out the task of building a national defense, Lam Dong province has built a strong political -spiritual potential; economic, cultural, social potential; and comprehensive scientific and technological potential with many high results.

Particularly in building military and security potential, the provincial armed forces are always under the direct and absolute leadership in all aspects of the Provincial Party Committee; constantly improving the capabilities and combat readiness of the provincial armed forces. Paying attention to comprehensiveness, focusing on building a national defense posture associated with a people's security posture, especially a solid people's heart posture. Paying attention to building a core force from the grassroots to promptly grasp newly arising incidents, promptly resolving them, not letting them drag on or spread.

Lam Dong province has also planned and invested in the construction of works for the armed forces, ensuring the material facilities for national defense work, ensuring the transfer of all activities of agencies, organizations, localities and people into national defense status. Maintain and store weapons, equipment, and reserve vehicles for mobilization and develop plans to receive and issue additional supplies when there are national defense situations. Gradually approach and apply military science advances to local technical work. Ensure the good implementation of force building work.

Colonel Nguyen Binh Son - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command presented certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee to individuals.

Implementing the Law on Military Service, localities directed the good implementation of the process, stages, and steps in selecting and calling citizens to join the army; in 2023, 1,150 young people were assigned, reaching 100% of the assigned target, the party membership rate exceeded 0.18%.

In 2023, preliminary selection was held for 139 candidates to take the entrance exam to military academies and schools. Training and exercises achieved the set goals and requirements and ensured absolute safety in all aspects.

Civil defense work; defense diplomacy, international integration and cooperation; people's diplomacy; combining defense with socio-economics and socio-economics with defense; inspection and examination in the defense field are ensured.

Performing well the task of propagating and disseminating national defense and security knowledge to the people has contributed to raising people's awareness and responsibility in maintaining political security and social order and safety in localities and bases.

At the Conference, representatives of leaders of departments, branches and localities contributed many opinions on the implementation of tasks related to national defense work in localities and units.

Concluding the conference, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Hiep pointed out the remaining limitations in the past year. On that basis, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stated: In 2024, it is forecasted that the world and domestic situation will continue to develop in a complicated and unpredictable manner, which will directly affect and influence the implementation of local defense tasks.

Party committees, authorities at all levels, agencies and units need to unite and reach absolute consensus to continue to thoroughly grasp the Party's viewpoints, guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies on national defense, focusing on Resolution 28 (term XI) on the strategy to protect the Fatherland in the new situation, the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress. Proactively fight, prevent and defeat the "peaceful evolution" and "violent overthrow" plots of hostile forces. Pay attention to building a strong political foundation, building a "truly solid" people's position.

Continue to implement Resolution No. 26 dated July 10, 2023 of the Provincial Party Committee on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units for the period 2023 - 2030 in the province; at the same time, direct the construction of comprehensive provincial, district and city defense zones in terms of politics, economy, culture, society, national defense and security; prioritize the construction of works in the provincial defense zone.

Improve the quality of regular construction, discipline training and combat readiness of local armed forces. Fully complete the positions in the Commune Military Command; build a strong militia, self-defense force and reserve mobilization force.

Regularly strengthen the National Defense and Security Education Council at all levels. Closely coordinate with forces in ensuring security and order in the new situation. Ensure political security, social order and safety during peak periods, holidays, New Year and economic, political, cultural and social events held locally and centrally. Organize activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).

Implement the military rear policy well. Maintain the people's dialogue regime well, receive people regularly and periodically, promptly resolve pressing social issues, do not let people file long-term, crowded complaints and do a good job of preventing and combating corruption.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded 2 emulation flags to 2 collectives and commended 13 collectives and 16 individuals for performing well in local defense tasks and national defense and security education work in 2023.
