Farmers in Thanh Quoi commune clean the fields and prepare the land to plant winter-spring rice.
For the 2025-2026 winter-spring rice crop, Can Tho City plans to sow on an area of 290,747 hectares, with an expected output of more than 2 million tons. To successfully produce the winter-spring rice crop, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City recommends that localities arrange the crop season based on the city's crop schedule combined with the measures of "sowing to avoid planthoppers, simultaneously, focusing on each region and each field, paying attention to the drought situation at the beginning of the season", directing not to sow for a long time, not to let many rice fields intermingle in the same field. Note to ensure the isolation period between the autumn-winter and winter-spring crops is at least 3 weeks. The expected winter-spring rice planting schedule for 2025-2026 includes 3 periods. Phase 1 from October 5 to October 12, 2025 (August 14 to August 21 of the lunar calendar), Phase 2 from November 10 to November 17, 2025 (September 21 to September 28 of the lunar calendar), Phase 3 from December 1 to December 12, 2025 (October 12 to October 23 of the lunar calendar).
Localities need to closely monitor the local brown planthopper and the migratory brown planthopper situation in combination with the hydrological regime to develop a specific crop calendar for the locality. Pay attention to applying the "Technical process for producing high-quality and low-emission rice in the Mekong Delta", regularly update the meteorological and hydrological situation, water resources and water quality for production.
