Ho Chi Minh City encourages preschool teachers to teach in the summer

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just issued guidelines for organizing summer activities in 2025 for preschool education. Summer activities will be held from June 16 to August 15, 2025, encouraging preschool teachers to teach in the summer, helping children to be cared for and play safely.

Specifically, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City guides the Department of Education and Training of districts, towns, and Thu Duc City to direct preschool education institutions to organize year-end summary activities for the 2024-2025 school year in accordance with the conditions and actual situation of the unit; fully update the list of 5-year-old preschool children who have completed the Preschool Education Program according to regulations; summarize the demand for the number of teachers for the 2025-2026 school year.

The Departments of Education and Training shall proactively advise the People's Committees of districts, towns, and Thu Duc City, and coordinate with local authorities at ward and commune levels in inspecting and supervising the activities of preschools and life skills education centers in the area, ensuring that they operate according to the granted licenses; and carry out periodic and ad hoc reporting when required.

Survey on childcare needs in the summer

The Ho Chi Minh City Departmentof Education and Training directed preschools to conduct a survey on the summer childcare needs of parents and caregivers; and encouraged teachers to participate in summer teaching.

Preschools and kindergartens must develop a plan to organize childcare, paying attention to ensuring children's living conditions, increasing recreational activities, experiences, organizing physical training skill clubs; ensuring food safety and hygiene; meeting children's nutritional needs according to regulations. Updating information on daily nutritional results (menus, nutritional portions; food books; market payment books...) on the industry database.

Preschools and kindergartens must create conditions for parents and caregivers to bring their new children to school to get acquainted with the school, groups, classes, teachers and living arrangements... Seriously ensure the number of teachers per child according to regulations; teachers participate in training on professional competence.

School leaders and class leaders must regularly inspect and supervise the organization of activities according to the unit's assigned schedule; strictly implement local disease prevention guidelines. During the summer activities, preschools, if they build, renovate or repair facilities, must ensure absolute safety for children; promptly report to management levels if there are difficulties or problems.

By July 2025, preschools must develop a plan to assign teachers to groups of classes for the 2025-2026 school year, giving preschool teachers time to research age-appropriate curriculum content, advanced methods, and design and build educational environments.

At the same time, the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City requested: "Private kindergartens and independent preschool education facilities create conditions for teachers to participate in classes to upgrade their training standards to meet the 2019 Education Law".

Preschools continue to accept registrations for summer care

Sharing with Thanh Nien Online reporters, representatives of kindergartens said they are continuing to allow parents to register to send their children to school during the summer. At Son Ca 14 Kindergarten, Phu Nhuan District, Ms. Le Cam Linh, Principal of the school, said that in the summer of 2025, the school will take care of children from June 16 to August 16. Currently, 242 children have registered for summer school. Summer activities are built in compliance with the preschool education program of the Ministry of Education and Training, focusing on many activities for children to develop skills, talents, physical training, and creativity...

Ms. Lam Thi Thuy Loan, Principal of Vang Anh Kindergarten, District 5, said that this year the school operates in the summer of 2025 from June 16 to August 15. Teachers register to work in the summer on a voluntary basis. Currently, there are more than 60 children from 18 months old to 5-6 years old, whose parents have registered to send them to the school during the summer.
