Ho Chi Minh City urgently directs to strengthen prevention of hand, foot and mouth disease

On June 6, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City sent a document to the Department of Health and departments, district People's Committees and Thu Duc City on strengthening the prevention of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD).

Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Health to coordinate with departments, branches, organizations, People's Committees of districts, Thu Duc City to synchronously deploy measures to prevent and control TCM epidemics according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health . In particular, focus on prevention in areas with high risk of spreading the epidemic such as: childcare centers, kindergartens, primary schools, residential areas/boarding houses with many children.

Handle outbreaks promptly to limit spread. When children have HFMD, it is necessary to closely monitor and detect early signs of worsening. Prepare to admit and treat HFMD according to the Ministry of Health's diagnosis and treatment guidelines. Proactively respond when the epidemic situation becomes complicated.

The Department of Health coordinates with the Department of Education and Training and relevant units to inspect disease prevention work at educational institutions and in the community; detect and isolate cases early, and clean classrooms and the environment. In addition, direct the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) to regularly monitor and supervise the updating of the list of cases and outbreaks to the infectious disease management and surveillance system in a complete and timely manner, accurately reflecting the actual epidemic situation of the locality.
