Ho Chi Minh City launches campaign to support people affected by floods in the North and North Central regions

On August 6, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee issued an urgent document requesting the Standing Committees of the Party Committees of wards, communes, Con Dao Special Zone and Party Committees directly under the City Party Committee to participate in contributing and supporting people in the mountainous provinces and midlands of the North and North Central regions who suffered damage due to severe floods.

The contribution activity will be held at the Party Congress of the units (term 2025-2030), aiming to promote the tradition of solidarity, mutual love, "national love, compatriotism", joining hands to support compatriots to overcome difficulties caused by natural disasters.

All contributions should be sent to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, through the relief account 37430104530094282 at the State Treasury of Region II or directly at 55 Mac Dinh Chi, Tan Dinh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City .

Since the beginning of 2025, natural disasters have been complicated and unusual. In late July and early August, heavy rains caused historic floods, flash floods, landslides in many localities in the mountainous and midland areas of the North and North Central regions, causing serious damage to people, property, infrastructure, and greatly affecting production and people's lives, especially in the provinces of Dien Bien , Son La and Nghe An.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment 's summary as of August 5, the recent heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides alone left 20 people dead and missing; 20 people injured; 1,003 houses collapsed and swept away; 6,863 houses damaged; 519 households had to be urgently evacuated; 60 schools and 10 medical centers were damaged; over 7,400 hectares of rice and crops were damaged.

Many energy, telecommunications, transportation, and irrigation projects were eroded and damaged, causing traffic disruption, power outages, and communication interruptions. Total economic losses were estimated at over VND4,800 billion.
