
At this scholarship awarding ceremony, 37 students with difficult circumstances and good academic performance, including 29 middle school students and 8 high school students, received 2 million VND each, with a total cost of 74 million VND.
This is the second time in the 2024-2025 school year that this scholarship has been awarded to Tam Ky students. Previously, 49 students were awarded (30 middle school students and 19 high school students) with a total cost of 98 million VND.
Dr. Alan L. Brooks is an American veteran who worked in the US Navy Medical Corps in 1970 and worked at Quang Tin Provincial Hospital (before 1975).
The scholarship fund for Tam Ky children, awarded by Dr. Alan L. Brooks, has lasted for 32 years (1993 - 2025), and has awarded more than 1,500 scholarships. In addition, the scholarship has recently been awarded to students from Thang Binh and Hiep Duc districts.

In the warm atmosphere of the scholarship award ceremony, Pham Hoang Gia Nghi (grade 9/4 student, Ly Tu Trong Secondary School - Tam Ky) expressed his joy and sincerely thanked the sponsors of the Dr. Brooks Scholarship Fund and Leaders at all levels have paid attention to the students' circumstances and always shared and encouraged them promptly.
“Every time we receive a scholarship from Dr. Alan L. Brooks, we are deeply moved and feel like we have been given more strength to continue going to school and studying with our friends. At this moment, we tell ourselves and also promise to the leaders, delegates, and sponsors of the Dr. Alan L. Brooks Scholarship Fund that we will always obey our parents and teachers, continue to study hard with better and better results, so that we can build a career in the future,” said Gia Nghi.

Mr. Bui Tan Nha - Vice President of Tam Ky City Association for Promotion of Education said that 32 years ago (1993), the association and Dr. Alan L. Brooks agreed that every year Dr. Brooks would sponsor scholarships for Tam Ky students with difficult circumstances to help them go to school. Implementing this sponsorship agreement, every year the two sides coordinate to award nearly 50 scholarships, worth nearly 50 million VND to encourage and motivate students to overcome difficulties and study well.
Hopefully in the coming time, Dr. Alan L. Brooks and sponsor representatives will continue to implement the scholarship program for Tam Ky students.
