Sharing the opportunity to play the role of Lua, Truc May said that she was once invited by director Nguyen Phuong Dien to act in the movie Thoi Mo Cua , but had to decline because she was busy with school. Only later did she have the opportunity to collaborate with the director through a guest role in the movie Duyen .
Coming to Mother Sea , although she had a private study plan, after reading the script, she decided to put her studies on hold to devote herself to the role. "I cannot miss this opportunity," Truc May shared.

During the preparation process, Truc May spent a lot of time reading the script carefully, mastering the plot as well as the character's psychology. "I love Lua for her quiet resilience - like a wild flower blooming in the middle of a storm. Despite growing up without love, living with a crazy mother, Lua still lives kindly, filial and full of compassion. I admire the way Lua treats Mrs. Hau - like her own mother, even though she is often scolded. The way Lua loves is quiet, undemanding, but deeply moving", Truc May confided.
Truc May said the most difficult scene was the scene where Lua meets her biological mother after 20 years. The character's emotions are overwhelming: hope then disappointment, forgiveness then disillusionment. Lua discovers her mother is an addict, her younger brother is still healthy, and the father she thought was her biological father turns out not to be.
She added: “The scene was both psychological and physically exhausting; I had to roll around, cry, and struggle, but the hardest part was keeping the character's emotions intact.”

Working alongside professional and experienced actors such as People's Artist Viet Anh, Meritorious Artist Truong Minh Quoc Thai, Meritorious Artist Kim Tuyen, artists Thanh Hien, Huong Giang, Hieu Hien, Cao Minh Dat, Cao Thai Ha... Truc May confessed that at first she was quite stressed and pressured. However, with the advice of director Nguyen Phuong Dien, she released the pressure, kept a normal mentality to freely create and naturally transform into the character.
