Along with the dominance of host nation Thailand, Indonesia also surged ahead to secure second place in the overall medal standings at the 33rd SEA Games .
Entering the events on December 15th, the Vietnamese sports delegation aims to narrow the gap with Indonesia, hoping for an opportunity to move up to second place in the group.
The Vietnamese team has gold medal hopes, including Nguyen Thi Oanh, and in swimming, shooting, and wushu events.
In addition, the Vietnam U22 team will play in the men's football semi-final at the 33rd SEA Games against the Philippines U22 team.

There were no more gold medals for Vietnamese shooting. In the final, the pair Pham Quang Huy - Trinh Thu Vinh scored 9 points in the 10m mixed team air pistol event. After outperforming in the qualifying round, the Indonesian pair dominated in the final with 17 points, winning the gold medal.

Shooters Pham Quang Huy and Trinh Thu Vinh entered the final of the mixed team 10m air pistol event.
Their opponents are Prabowo and Arista Perdana Putri from Indonesia. Both teams have the same qualifying points of 574.
Lucia Shu
Nguyen Thi Hien and Duong Thuy Vi finished the women's weapons sparring competition. Their scores were not high, and the two Vietnamese athletes had no chance of winning the gold medal.

Nguyen Van Phuong and Nguyen Trong Lam have both completed their men's Tai Chi sword events. Once again, Vietnamese wushu missed the opportunity to win a gold medal.

Pham Quang Huy and Trinh Thu Vinh scored a total of 574 points, the same as Indonesia, placing them second in the qualifying round of the 10m mixed team air pistol event.

Swim
Nguyen Huy Hoang finished first in the qualifying round of the men's 400m freestyle.
Duong Van Hoang Quy and Pham Quang Thuan both advanced to the men's 200m butterfly final.
Earlier, Pham Thanh Bao qualified for the men's 50m breaststroke final; Pham Thi Van also secured a place in the women's 50m butterfly final.
Lucia Shu
Nguyen Thi Hien was unsuccessful in the women's martial arts final. Duong Thuy Vi, a hopeful contender, also failed, not even making it into the top 3.
Wushu – Silver Medal
In the men's and women's martial arts competition, Dang Tran Phuong Nhi scored 9.726 points, while Phan Thi Tu Binh was disappointing with only 8.506 points.
Nhi only won a silver medal, which was not as expected by the Vietnamese delegation.


Swim
Tran Hung Nguyen and Cao Van Dung both made it into the top 8 of the men's 200m backstroke qualifying round. The final will be held in the afternoon.
Shooting
Pham Quang Huy and Trinh Thu Vinh entered the qualifying round of the 10m mixed team air pistol event. They are the hope for a gold medal for Vietnamese sports today.
The hopes of the Vietnamese delegation
The Vietnamese team hopes to win more gold medals on the final day of swimming competition. Nguyen Huy Hoang, Tran Hung Nguyen, Pham Thanh Bao, and Nguyen Quang Thuan competed in the qualifying rounds in the morning and the finals in the afternoon.
Also this morning, two shooting hopefuls, Pham Quang Huy and Trinh Thu Vinh, will compete in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. Thu Vinh is a great hope for Vietnamese sports, after impressing on December 14th. The final is scheduled to take place at 11:30 AM.
In athletics, Nguyen Thi Oanh is aiming for her second individual gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games, competing in the women's 10,000m final.
Also that afternoon, the highlight was the women's volleyball final. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team faced the host nation Thailand, with expectations of conquering a historic gold medal.
