On the afternoon of November 28, the People's Court of Da Nang City concluded the first instance trial of a defendant who specialized in smuggling drugs into entertainment venues such as dance clubs, bars, and karaoke.
The People's Court sentenced Le Thanh Nhut (24 years old, residing in Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang City) to 20 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking.
According to the indictment, on the evening of July 21, 2023, at a bar in the center of Da Nang City, Nhut met Dung (unknown origin) and bought 250 ecstasy pills and a package of Ketamine trays for 80 million VND.
Nhut brought the drugs home to hide, divide them into small pieces to sell. On July 23 and 25, Nhut sold drugs to bars, selling them at Phu Loc bridge (Da Nang bay).

Nhut confessed to specializing in taking large quantities of drugs and supplying them to users at entertainment venues such as dance clubs, bars, and karaoke.
The investigation determined that Nhut was buying and selling drugs boldly, trading right in entertainment venues. The police put Nhut on watch and established a plan to fight and prevent it.
On the evening of July 25, at the intersection of Giap Van Cuong and Ho Tung Mau streets (Hoa Minh Ward), the Drug Crime Investigation Police Team of Lien Chieu District Police caught Le Thanh Nhut red-handed carrying ecstasy and trays of Ketamine for sale.
The total weight of drugs seized from Nhat's person and through a search of his house was more than 210 grams.
