The EU should not be afraid to cooperate with China because of competition and the two sides should work together to enhance the trust and stability of economic and trade relations, according to Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Wang Yi also stressed that China's cooperation with the EU is mutually beneficial, and called on the EU to minimize risks by reducing the negative impact of uncertainties arising from the politicization of economic and business relations.

European officials have repeatedly vowed to reduce economic dependence on China in key sectors.

French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna arrived in Beijing on November 24. There, she held talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang. The talks focused on the situation in the Middle East and promoting bilateral relations.

The talks between Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna took place on the first day of a four-day ceasefire between the Islamist Hamas movement and Israel.

Ms. Catherine Colonna also discussed a number of topics, including rebalancing France's economic relationship with the world's second largest economy.

Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna expressed France's wish to promote in-depth dialogue with China on international issues, including ongoing crises.

Ms. Catherine Colonna also emphasized that as permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, France and China share global responsibilities. Accordingly, the two sides need to make efforts to find solutions to major challenges, especially in the areas of climate, biodiversity and reducing tensions in the world.
