On the morning of October 18, at the opening ceremony of the new school year, Saigon Polytechnic College (HCMC) awarded the first scholarships to Cuban students.

Accordingly, six Cuban students and two Lao students will receive full scholarships, including all tuition and dormitory fees throughout the study period, worth nearly 1.5 billion VND.

Previously, the school also launched the program "BKC - Cuba's Love", raising more than 100 million VND to share difficulties with the Cuban people.

Currently, Saigon Polytechnic College is one of the vocational training institutions that is actively expanding international cooperation, welcoming foreign students to study in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to information from the school, Saigon Polytechnic College currently has about 500 international students, most of whom come from Southeast Asian countries.

The school welcomed its first Laotian students at the end of September and is expected to admit its first class of Cuban students at the end of October.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Ariadne Feo Labrada - Consul General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City - expressed her joy when the first college in Ho Chi Minh City opened a program to receive Cuban students.

She said Cuba is in dire need of high-quality human resources, especially in the fields of engineering and technology, to meet development requirements in the new period.

Ms. Labrada emphasized that in the context of increasingly expanding educational cooperation between Cuba and Vietnam, Cuban students studying in Vietnam not only helps improve their professional qualifications, but is also an opportunity for the two countries to enhance understanding and connect peoples.

"Cuba and Vietnam have a special relationship, and we believe that Cuban students will become bridges of friendship, bringing the spirit of cooperation and friendship between the two peoples even stronger," she said.
