TPO - Hanh Thong Primary School in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City, recently held an open-door event inviting parents to visit and supervise the school's canteen and have lunch at the school according to the menu provided for students.
On December 10th, Ms. Le Thi Hong Nhung, Principal of Hanh Thong Primary School in Go Vap District, announced that the school had recently organized a field trip to monitor the school's activities.
According to the plan, the school invited the Parent-Teacher Association to visit the school's cafeteria and observe the food processing procedures.
Before entering the kitchen, parents are required to put on protective gear. |
| "There are three time slots for parents to choose from: 5:45 AM for a tour of the food preparation area; 8:00 AM for starting the one-way kitchen process and food preparation; and 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM for portioning meals for the children," Ms. Nhung said. |
| Many parents registered to visit all three shifts to learn about the school's procedures. Parents directly inspected the food and its storage in the kitchen. |
Parents went from classroom to classroom to check the food distribution and survey students' satisfaction with the school lunch program. |
The students were delighted to see the inspection team tour their meals. |
After touring the entire process of preparing the school lunch, parents were invited to have lunch in the teachers' meeting room, following the same menu that the students are currently enjoying. Many parents expressed their delight at this interesting experience. |

Ms. Le Thi Hong Nhung, Principal of Hanh Thong Primary School, said that this year the school charges 35,000 VND for the school lunch, including lunch and afternoon snack. All food purchased by the school has a proper origin and is of good quality, so parents can rest assured. "We plan to organize more visits like this in the future so that parents can learn about their children's meals and receive feedback to improve the quality of school lunches for students," Ms. Nhung said.
Reportedly, to ensure transparency in school lunch programs, some other schools such as Dinh Tien Hoang Primary School and Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School (District 1)... also regularly invite parents to visit the school to observe the meal preparation process for their children.
