This is a special historical memoir, realistically recreating the 30-year journey (1911 - 1941) of Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh searching for a way to save the country through three oceans, four continents and nearly 30 countries. With a vivid writing style, combining literature and historical materials, the work depicts the image of a patriotic, resilient, simple young man who always had a thirst for learning.
From everyday stories such as Uncle Ho baking at the Omni Parker House Hotel (Boston), gardening in France, or contemplative moments in front of the Statue of Liberty, to historical events such as sending the "Petition of the Annamese People" to the Versailles Conference in 1919..., the book highlights his intelligence, courage and heart for the nation.
In particular, in June 1925 in Guangzhou, Nguyen Ai Quoc founded the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association, opened a cadre training class, published Thanh Nien newspaper, and laid the theoretical and organizational foundation for the Communist Party of Vietnam later.
Sharing about the writing process, Professor Trinh Quang Phu said that he traveled to more than 20 countries to collect documents and contact witnesses. “With all my love for Uncle Ho, with the urge of a writer, I created the memoir Following His Footsteps, hoping to bring readers useful information and documents. And through these pages, readers will understand and love more, learn more about the style and noble will of beloved Uncle Ho,” the author shared.
According to Ms. Vu Thi Quynh Lien, Deputy Director and Editor-in-Chief of Kim Dong Publishing House, this is not only a literary work but also a valuable document servingthe education of history and patriotic traditions for the young generation.
