On the afternoon of November 5, singer Tung Duong held an event to launch his new album: vinyl record Vol 1 The Voice - Timeless in Ho Chi Minh City . He talked to the press and expressed his views on a number of issues in the music industry.
Sympathize with Ho Ngoc Ha, hope the audience is generous
Regarding the recent incident of Ho Ngoc Ha "singing loudly" on stage, when asked what he had to share with his colleagues, Tung Duong said: "I sympathize with an artist making mistakes on stage. I myself make many mistakes. There are mistakes that I know and my colleagues know, but the audience may not be as good as professionals.
When artists make mistakes, everyone should consider it a small accident, to see that no one is perfect. We are human, we have emotions, sometimes happy, sometimes sad, sometimes in good health, sometimes weaker. Sometimes when we have a cold, we still have to sing. But even if we sing loudly, sing out of tune, singing for real is much more valuable than lip-syncing.

According to Tung Duong, the important thing is to be brave enough to sing live and dare to admit that if you sing well today, you will sing better tomorrow. He hopes the public will understand and be generous with artists, they also experience ups and downs like everyone else, joys, anger, love and hate directly affect the singing voice.
From his own experience, he said that if he had health or vocal problems, he would choose a more playful, relaxed singing style. So, he could have given an 8-point performance but it was the best he could given his health condition at that time.
Tung Duong recalled that in 2017, he made a statement about bolero music and there was a newspaper headline that caused him to receive a public backlash. That incident made him so stressed that he lost his voice before the live show Heaven and Earth.
At that time, Tung Duong was introduced by a friend to a doctor who treated him in time, but his singing only recovered to 9 points. He still sang through two live shows, but he knew that the highly skilled audience or the band still realized that his singing performance was not as good as usual.
"None of us are perfect, we always need to try harder" - he contemplated.
Tung Duong sings Trinh Cong Son, Pham Duy...
The name of the album The Voice - Timeless means the parallel of Tung Duong's voice with timeless love songs. With this album, Tung Duong returns to his emotional singing style, cherishing the beauty of each sound in his voice, lyrics, and music.
After experimental and groundbreaking albums like Human and Multiverse, The Voice - Timeless brings Tung Duong's voice back to the melodies that have accompanied many generations of Vietnamese music audiences. And now it has been 10 years since the album Tung Duong sings love songs.
The Voice - Timeless album includes 8 songs: Alone (Lam Phuong), Lonely (Nguyen Anh 9), Regretful (Pham Duy - Huy Can), The heart of the person leaving (Anh Bang), Separately a corner of the sky (Ngo Thuy Mien), Footprints of paradise (Trinh Cong Son), Lullaby for us (Trinh Cong Son), Will we ever love each other in this life (Pham Duy - Minh Duc Hoai Trinh).

The project’s musical director is musician Hong Kien. He brings a multi-colored musical space to a seemingly monochromatic background: from smooth semi-classical, to a bit of improvised jazz and funky/soul flavors.
"Tung Duong's voice is now at its peak, combined with his experience and careful research on music and singing style, so it seems like Tung Duong flies through the arrangements, sometimes harmonious, sometimes leisurely, sometimes fierce, very versatile. Tung Duong is enthusiastic, but this time his voice is tolerant, experienced, and steps back to clearly see the picture of Vietnamese music through many periods" - musician Hong Kien shared.
