In September, the Vietnam national team decided not to play any official international friendly matches within the FIFA system.
Therefore, the score of "Golden Star Warriors" on the chart remains the same.
The reason for this change does not come from the results of the competition, but from the rise of other teams.
Although there were 2 internal practice matches against Nam Dinh Club and Hanoi Police, these matches were not counted for points.
The drop in rankings occurred because the teams ranked near Vietnam had good results and made strong progress.
Although the ranking has slightly decreased, the Vietnamese team still maintains a safe distance from its opponents in the Southeast Asian region.
Thailand is still leading the region. This team won 1 and lost 1 in September, ranked 101st in the world.
Notably, Indonesia, despite gaining points after the FIFA Days period, still dropped one place to 119th in the world.
After the win over Chinese Taipei and the draw with Lebanon, the “island country” team only gained 3.43 points. This makes the gap between the two teams still maintained at a significant level.
Currently, the Vietnamese team is 12 points ahead of Indonesia on the rankings. This gap is predicted to be difficult to close in October.
While Vietnam has a great chance to take full points when facing weaker opponent Nepal in both matches at home, Indonesia will have to face two very strong opponents, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
According to plan, the Vietnamese team will gather again during FIFA Days in October, playing two matches with the Nepal team in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
