The road scale includes 2 motor lanes, the width of the bridge is synchronous with the width of the roadbed is 12m. The initial completion time of the project is expected to be August 2023. Construction started in January 2022 with a total investment of more than 2,100 billion VND, from the non-refundable aid capital of the Australian Government (DFAT) for consulting services to update investment project documents of 0.09 million USD equivalent to 2.12 billion VND; loan capital from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is 89.34 million USD equivalent to more than 2,088 billion VND and counterpart capital of the Government of Vietnam. The project starts at the junction with the access road to Vam Cong bridge from National Highway 80 to Lo Te intersection and ends at Km23 + 561.22 at the intersection with National Highway 91. The project is divided into 3 construction packages.
According to the My Thuan Project Management Board, due to a number of objective and subjective reasons, especially the source of sand, the project completion time must be extended compared to the signed contract; currently submitting to competent authorities for approval to adjust the project investment policy and extend the project implementation time. The project is being implemented simultaneously with the accumulated output up to January 27 reaching over 932 billion VND (84%).
Currently, the investment project to build the route connecting National Highway 91 and the Long Xuyen city bypass has basically completed the construction of 18/18 bridges; the road section has completed 100% of the roadbed sand filling and loading; 39/44 round culvert locations are under construction; 1/7 box culvert locations have been completed, and 6/7 box culvert locations are expected to be completed before February 20, 2024. Particularly, the section to renovate and upgrade National Highway 80 with a length of 2 km has completed construction up to the C12.5 asphalt concrete layer and the construction unit is completing the traffic safety system, signs, etc.
For more information, My Thuan Project Management Board said that according to the technical requirements of the project, the unloading and construction of the sand foundation will be carried out in 3 phases: Phase 1 from November 2023 to January 2024 with a length of about 6.4 km; Phase 2 from January 2024 to March 2024 with a length of about 4.3 km and Phase 3 from March 2024 to May 2024; the remaining sections with a length of about 2.5 km. According to the plan, the contractors will construct circular culverts and box culverts from November 2023 to February 2024; the construction of the crushed stone layer will be carried out from March 2024 to May 2024, "rolling" construction, completing each sand foundation section will immediately construct the crushed stone section.
From May to June 2024, contractors will construct the asphalt concrete layer; from June 2024 to July 2024, they will carry out road painting, sign installation, street lighting installation, and finishing slope paving. According to the contractor and consultant's calculations, with the motto of concentrating resources, constructing each item "rolling" in 3 shifts, 4 teams, minimizing the construction time, the expected time to complete and put the project into use is at the end of July 2024.
The project connecting National Highway 91 and the Long Xuyen city bypass is considered an important piece in the traffic map connecting An Giang with the Mekong Delta; in particular, when the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway is built together with the Long Xuyen bypass, it will create an important driving force for An Giang to develop./.
