The veteran strategist also revealed that he will create opportunities for some young faces to compete with the mainstays to increase cohesion, test their abilities and prepare for long-term goals.
Coach Mai Duc Chung shared about the plan for the match: "Up to now, the Vietnamese women's team has always had a weakness of modest height, which must be overcome. Against the opponent Werder Bremen women's club with impressive height and physical strength, the whole team will play hard. This match is also an opportunity for me to test some young faces, alternating with giving them the opportunity to play and compete with the pillars to create better cohesion. New players need to show progress to be able to play regularly."
On the other side, coach Thomas Horsch of the Werder Bremen women's club expressed his excitement before the match: "The whole team is very excited about this match. The weather in Vietnam is somewhat different when it is hot and humid, but we are used to having to adapt to many competition conditions.
Our strengths are collective play, keeping discipline in formation, and developing the ball. I once watched the Vietnamese women's team play a friendly match in Germany. They have many players with good skills and have won tickets to the World Cup."
The match between Vietnam women's team and Werder Bremen will take place at 7pm tomorrow (May 16).
