Tuyen Quang: Death hole appears in Tan Thanh commune, Son Duong district

NDO - At around 9am on May 29, a large sinkhole suddenly appeared in Tan Tien village, Tan Thanh commune, Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province, causing panic and anxiety among local residents. The sinkhole was more than 2m wide and about 6m deep, appearing right next to a residential area and close to National Highway 2C.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Toan, Tan Tien village, Tan Thanh commune, Son Duong district said that the sinkhole was located near the area where his family was building a house. When discovered, the hole was only about 40cm wide, then the hole sank deeper and spread out towards National Highway 2C.

He and the people living around the area are very confused and worried about the above phenomenon. We hope that the government and relevant agencies will soon find the cause and take measures to overcome the above situation.

The sinkhole is about 6m deep.

Comrade Phung Ngoc Vinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Thanh Commune, Son Duong District, said that immediately after discovering the incident, the local authorities cordoned off the scene and warned people not to approach the dangerous area. At the same time, the incident was reported to higher authorities to investigate the cause and take remedial measures.

People in Tan Tien village, Tan Thanh commune, Son Duong district hope that authorities will soon find the cause and take measures to remedy the above situation.

According to initial assessment, the sinkhole phenomenon may be due to complex geological factors in the area, especially underground erosion of groundwater or activities that break down the underlying soil and rock structure after a long period of rain. In addition, well drilling and groundwater exploitation activities are also believed to be factors that may contribute to geological instability.
