Propaganda against IUU fishing for fishermen in Ho Chi Minh City

Border Guard Squadron 18 (based in Phuoc Thang Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) has just organized a propaganda campaign against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing for 200 boat owners and 800 fishermen in the area.

Accordingly, from August 19 to August 23, implementing the peak propaganda plan on preventing and combating IUU fishing, Squadron III/25, Border Guard Squadron 18 organized for fishing vessel owners, especially offshore fishing vessels, to sign a commitment not to encroach on foreign waters for illegal fishing.

In addition, information on regulations when departing from port, vehicles must have full documents, journey monitoring equipment, and nautical charts to serve the determination of maritime boundaries to limit IUU violations and local regulations.

On this occasion, the fishermen were presented with 200 national flags, 200 photos of Uncle Ho, 1,000 leaflets and information on what they need to know in combating IUU fishing; maps of zoning and fishing routes in Vietnam's waters; things that fishing boat owners and fishermen operating at sea need to remember to do...

The campaign to propagate, disseminate and educate the law aims to raise awareness, self-consciousness, compliance and strict implementation of the law of the State and fishermen in the coastal border areas, contributing to speeding up the process of removing the yellow card of the European Commission (EC) and building a strong national border defense posture.
