Propaganda to create consensus among the people on protecting sea and island sovereignty

Attending the conference were comrades Nguyen Minh Vu - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs ; Vu Thanh Mai - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Nguyen Khac Toan - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Khanh Hoa province, and 300 delegates representing the Propaganda Department, press agencies of 28 coastal provinces and cities.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Vu Thanh Mai - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department affirmed that the sea and islands are a sacred part of the territory, an inseparable part of the flesh and blood and have a particularly important position in the cause of national construction and development.

Propaganda work on seas and islands is a long-term, regular and continuous task of the entire political system. In recent times, propaganda work on seas and islands has achieved great results, contributing significantly to raising people's awareness and love for seas and islands, motivating forces that are implementing management and protecting the sovereignty of seas and islands of the Fatherland.

Comrade Vu Thanh Mai emphasized that the world and regional situation continues to develop complicatedly; the trend of peace, cooperation and development faces many challenges.

Domestically, the political, economic and social situation is stable; the Party's foreign affairs, State diplomacy and people's diplomacy continue to be maintained and promoted. The country's prestige and position are constantly improving.

Hostile forces continue to thoroughly exploit issues of national border sovereignty, sea and island sovereignty, ethnicity, and religion to spread distorted and fabricated propaganda to sabotage Vietnam and divide the traditional friendship between Vietnam and neighboring countries.

In that context, continuing to promote the achieved results, to coordinate the propaganda work on sea and islands to achieve higher quality and efficiency, promoting the proactiveness, creativity and flexibility of the forces doing propaganda work on sea and islands, it is recommended that all levels, sectors and localities continue to raise awareness and create consensus among all classes of people on the task of protecting sovereignty over sea and islands.

Presenting thematic reports at the conference were comrades from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Navy Command. The conference listened to and discussed the work of protecting Vietnam's sea and island sovereignty on the political and diplomatic fronts in recent times; the situation and results of combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in recent times; the recent situation in the East Sea, forecasting the situation and directions, and tasks of protecting sea and island sovereignty in the coming time.

The conference is an opportunity for reporters and delegates to meet, exchange and share good practices and experiences in propaganda work and protecting Vietnam's sea and island sovereignty.
