Quang Yen Town: Seized 115 octagonal cages used for illegal fishing

On August 26, while patrolling the Chanh River waterway in Quang Yen Ward, Quang Yen Town, Quang Yen Ward Police and the Traffic Police Team discovered and seized 115 octagonal cages.

During the inspection of the unlicensed sampan owned and operated by Mr. Do Van Cong, born in 1976, residing in village 2, Tien Phong commune, Quang Yen town, anchored on the left bank of the Song Chanh waterway, it was discovered that Mr. Cong was storing the above octagonal cages for illegal fishing on the Song Chanh waterway, Quang Yen town.

The authorities have drawn up a record and temporarily detained all the evidence, which are 115 octagonal cages, and handed them over to the Economic Department of Quang Yen Town to serve the handling in accordance with the provisions of law.

Since the beginning of 2024, Quang Yen Town has carried out many campaigns to handle illegal fishing activities at sea, confiscating and destroying a large number of octagonal cages. In the coming time, Quang Yen Town will continue to coordinate with functional forces to increase campaigns and handle cases of violations of regulations on fishing.
