The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the USD against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stopped at 100.04 - unchanged from May 4, 2025.

The greenback ended the week down 0.21% to 100.04 as data showed the world's largest economy added more jobs than expected last month, reflecting a solid labor market.
Meanwhile, the jobs report reinforced expectations that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates on hold for the next few meetings and not cut them until the summer. US data showed nonfarm payrolls rose by 177,000 jobs last month, after a revised increase of 185,000 in March.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast about 130,000 new jobs in April, after a previous report showed 228,000 new jobs were added in March. Economists expect job growth to slow in coming months as they factor in the fallout from tariffs.
In the domestic market, commercial banks temporarily suspended foreign exchange transactions during the holiday. Before closing, the USD price was listed by major banks at 25,790-26,180 VND/USD (buy - sell) and by joint stock banks at 25,780-26,190 VND/USD (buy - sell).
Because commercial banks have temporarily stopped posting price lists, the free market has become the main trading channel at this time.
The strong increase of the USD in the domestic free market took place in the context of the greenback in the international market recovering after a long period of being at a low level.
Experts predict the greenback will continue to rise this week due to optimism about the prospect that the US will reach tariff agreements with many trading partners, including China.
Meanwhile, the jobs report reinforced expectations that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) will keep interest rates unchanged at the next few meetings and not cut rates until the summer.
