Vietnam U16 women's team finalizes squad to attend Southeast Asian tournament

VHO - The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said that on August 18, Coach Okiyama Masahiko announced the official list of 23 players of the Vietnam U16 women's team who will participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Women's Football Championship, taking place from August 20 to 30 in Indonesia.

Vietnam U16 women's team has had 1 month of training to prepare for the Southeast Asian tournament.

Accordingly, 7 players out of 30 summoned from the initial list are not on the official list to participate in the tournament, including: Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao ( Ninh Binh ), Nguyen Van Anh, Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Y, Nguyen Thanh Thuy, Doan Thi Kim Chi (HCMC), Nguyen Khanh Ly (Thai Nguyen) and Ha Thi Mai Tuyen (Son La).

To prepare for the regional tournament, the Vietnam U16 women's team had 1 month of training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (Hanoi) with 5 friendly matches with the "blue team" of the U19 women's teams of Ha Nam , Thai Nguyen and Vinh Phuc.

Evaluating the results of the recent preparation, Coach Okiyama Masahiko said: “We have prepared very well according to the plan. I highly appreciate the recent training session of the Vietnam U16 women's team. The whole team has tried very hard to complete the training plan set out by the coaching staff.”

The team has finalized the list of 23 players for the tournament.

Coach Okiyama Masahiko emphasized: “We have 3 goals at the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Women's Championship: Fight with all our might in every match with the goal of winning; improve each player's technique, fitness, and team tactics to prepare for the Asian U17 Women's Championship qualifiers next October.

The ultimate goal is to help players understand the pride and responsibility of being a national team player through the experience of participating in international tournaments abroad.”

Tomorrow morning, August 19, the U16 women's team of Vietnam will depart for Indonesia. Coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team will have two group stage matches against Cambodia and Myanmar, on August 21 and August 25 respectively.
