According to Director of the Department of Science and Technology Vo Minh Trung, in recent times, science and technology activities in the province have achieved many positive results. The application of scientific and technological advances in production has contributed to promoting socio-economic development, building new rural areas, and digital transformation in all sectors and fields of the entire economy. The Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have paid attention to directing the application of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in the development of sectors and fields, especially key sectors with strengths of the province such as agriculture, industry, trade, and tourism. By 2030, the province strives to have a provincial competitiveness index (PCI), digital transformation index (DTI), and local innovation index (PII) in the top 20 nationwide.

Implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the agricultural and environmental sector has increased the application of digital transformation in the production process and provision of agricultural services; applied software and IoT to optimize the use of water and land resources, etc., helping to increase labor productivity and reduce dependence on the weather. Many scientific and technological advances have been applied to models of seed production, breeding, and growing a number of high-yield, high-quality, and organic products. The province has been granted the "An Giang Rice" certificate by the Intellectual Property Office, contributing to building the local rice brand.
The level of science and technology in the province's health sector is increasingly developing, the health network from the province to the grassroots continues to be improved. The whole province has 51 medical examination and treatment facilities with a scale of 11,274 beds. The health sector applies software to manage medical examination and treatment at hospitals, medical centers, and medical stations to help the sector better perform medical examination and treatment work throughout the province; gradually forming and developing a comprehensive database. To date, hospital management software (HIS) has been deployed to 100% of medical facilities with beds in the province. 100% of medical examination and treatment facilities use ID cards or electronic identification applications (VNeID) to replace health insurance cards in medical examination and treatment. Implement non-cash payment methods to pay hospital fees and other transactions such as transfers and POS.
The education and training sector promotes the application of information technology and digital transformation in management and training. 100% of primary schools deploy digital transcripts. Vocational training institutions continue to research and apply information technology and digital transformation in teaching, testing, and student assessment. The sector promotes fee collection by non-cash payment methods and implements tuition payment on the national public service portal.
Digital banking services are constantly improving, bringing many conveniences and experiences to customers. Many basic services are performed entirely on digital channels such as opening and activating accounts through electronic identification (eKyc), money transfer transactions, and payments. At the same time, expanding to beyond banking services such as calling a car, ordering food, delivery, online shopping, buying movie tickets, airline tickets, booking hotels, tours, etc.
Scientific research, technology and innovation activities have been enhanced. Many research topics linked to practice have been effectively applied in production, business and social life. Currently, the province is implementing 77 provincial and grassroots science and technology tasks. The tasks focus on developing the marine economy such as solutions for sand and saltwater concrete, using non-metallic reinforcement for coastal construction works and areas affected by saltwater intrusion.
