Following her two teammates Luong Duc Phuoc and Nguyen Thi Hang, Nguyen Thi Huyen helped the Vietnamese athletics team win the third gold medal at the 2023 Taiwan (China) Open Athletics Championship.

This achievement of Nguyen Thi Huyen is still quite far from the milestone of 56 seconds 26 that the girl from Nam Dinh set at the recent 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.

Although her results were not as expected, Nguyen Thi Huyen still won the gold medal partly because she did not face fierce competition from her fellow competitors.

Before Nguyen Thi Huyen, Vietnamese athletics had already won two other gold medals at the tournament. In the men's 1500m race, Luong Duc Phuoc also finished first, winning the gold medal with a time of 3 minutes 55 seconds 38, a better result than at the 32nd SEA Games (3 minutes 59 seconds 31) but not the best result of the Dong Nai athlete.

In the 400m women's race, athlete Nguyen Thi Hang was the representative of the Vietnamese athletics team and she finished first, winning the gold medal with a time of 53 seconds 75.

Remember at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia not long ago, it was also Nguyen Thi Hang who won the bronze medal of the Games with 53 seconds 84.

The Vietnamese athletics team participating in the Taiwan (China) Open Tournament consists of 13 athletes, but unfortunately, runner Nguyen Thi Oanh, who won 4 gold medals at the 32nd SEA Games, is absent due to other commitments, including the charity program "Supporting Dreams" in Bac Kan .

The main goal of the Vietnamese athletes and the coaching staff is still to check their performance and evaluate their progress in performance, considering this an important test for the ASIAD in Hangzhou (China) next September.
