For a safe working environment

Occupational safety (OSH) is always a key factor, ensuring the health and lives of workers and the sustainable development of enterprises. However, the OSH situation in the province in 2024 shows that there are still many challenges that need to be addressed and resolved decisively.

In 2024, the province had 73,590 workers in 150 reporting units. Notably, up to 24,131 workers worked in arduous, toxic, and dangerous conditions (working conditions of types IV, V, VI), with many potential risks. In 2024, the province recorded 56 work accidents, causing 58 victims, of which 1 person died (due to a traffic accident). The consequences of these accidents were huge, with 1,243 days off due to work accidents and damages of over 51 billion VND.

In addition, the province currently has 4,221 machines, equipment, and materials with strict requirements on occupational safety. Through monitoring the working environment, the authorities also concluded that hundreds of monitoring samples did not meet the permitted standards for temperature, noise, dust, etc. These factors contribute to creating a potentially dangerous working environment.

Authorities have pointed out that there are many causes of work-related accidents. On the one hand, it is due to the limited level of knowledge, experience, awareness, and understanding of occupational safety and hygiene (OSH) of workers. Lack of caution in operations, subjectivity, violation of safety procedures and technical regulations, failure to use personal protective equipment, and poor coordination of work... are the direct causes leading to accidents for oneself and teammates.

On the other hand, the management, organization, arrangement of labor, and assignment of work in some units are not specific, lack of forecasting and timely detection of safety risks. The propaganda, education , training on occupational safety and health, and guidance on implementation of construction measures for workers in some units and enterprises are still limited.

Faced with this situation, the authorities have been implementing many activities to strengthen occupational safety and health. In 2024, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (formerly) advised the Provincial Party Committee to issue an Action Program to implement Directive No. 31-CT/TW dated March 19, 2024 of the Secretariat on continuing to strengthen the Party's leadership over occupational safety and health in the new situation. The Department also confirmed the declaration of using machinery and equipment with strict occupational safety requirements for 100 enterprises, and at the same time rejected 2 enterprises because they did not meet the requirements.

The acceptance of overtime work from 200 to 300 hours of 68 enterprises, units, and production and business establishments in the province is also strictly managed. In addition, the inspection of the implementation of legal regulations on occupational safety and health at 15 enterprises has helped guide enterprises to better implement the regulations.

To improve prevention and enhance the responsibility of employers in self-inspection, assessment and control of occupational safety and health risks, and limit occupational accidents and diseases, the Department of Home Affairs has proposed to implement the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health in 2025. Accordingly, the Plan to implement activities in response to the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health was issued by departments, branches, People's Committees of districts, cities and towns and the Management Board of Industrial Parks of the province from April.

In May 2025, agencies, organizations, enterprises, cooperatives, and production and business establishments in the province will implement plans and respond to the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health, regularly pay attention to the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases to ensure occupational safety and health according to regulations; strengthen inspection and supervision of occupational safety and health...

Ensuring occupational safety is a continuous journey, requiring close coordination from employees, employers and state management agencies. Raising awareness, strictly complying with regulations, investing in safety equipment, and increasing inspection and supervision will contribute to building a safe and healthy working environment, promoting sustainable development for the community and society.
