A 5-year-old boy swallowed a glass marble, vomited, and was taken to the emergency room by his family.
On May 7, a representative of Dinh Quan General Hospital said that X-ray results showed that a marble about 1.6 cm in diameter was in the boy's stomach, causing vomiting. If the marble was not removed promptly, the boy would have a stomachache and digestive disorders.

Avoiding the option of endoscopic anesthesia to remove the foreign object, the doctors gave the patient Duphalac (a drug used to treat constipation) so that he could defecate and naturally expel the marble. As a result, the foreign object was expelled, the boy's health was stable, and he was discharged from the hospital.
Doctors recommend not leaving small objects such as marbles, coins, batteries, or toothpicks within reach of children to avoid swallowing them, which can be dangerous.
