In Lao Cai province, there are currently two public forensic organizations: the Forensic Center under the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Health and the Criminal Techniques Department (PC09) under the Lao Cai Provincial Police. The Lao Cai Provincial Forensic Center always closely coordinates with the Criminal Techniques Department of the Provincial Police and the prosecution agencies, specialized departments and branches in performing their duties and tasks.
The provincial Forensic Center has implemented various types of examinations such as: autopsy, injury, sex, age, gender, microscopic and other examinations. The team of examiners and civil servants have high professional qualifications, meet professional and technical requirements and are fully equipped with equipment to serve professional tasks.

The total number of appraisal requests received in the period 2020 - 2025 is 2,501 cases.
At the meeting, the Provincial Forensic Center recommended that the Department of Health advise the Provincial People's Committee to have policies to attract, encourage and motivate those working in forensic examination so that they can work with peace of mind and meet the requirements of their tasks; propose a remuneration of 1 month's basic salary/month for examiners, assistants receive 70%, and non-professional staff receive 40% of the assessor's remuneration. The Provincial Forensic Center also requested the National Institute of Forensic Medicine to organize forensic professional training courses for examiners and assistants and regularly organize inspections, supervision and guidance on professional work.
The inspection team of the National Institute of Forensic Medicine informed about the inspection results at the Provincial Forensic Center and the Provincial Police Department of Criminal Techniques in 2 days (May 14-15).
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Duc Nhu, Director of the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, highly appreciated the forensic examination work in Lao Cai, and requested the Provincial Forensic Medicine Center and the Criminal Techniques Department to continue to overcome difficulties and meet the requirements of forensic examination work in the area. In the coming time, the National Institute of Forensic Medicine will continue to support the province's forensic system in terms of expertise and enhance in-depth professional training for officers working in forensic medicine.
