On November 3, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam received and worked with Mr. Marcus Malsch, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Rural Development of the State of Thuringia, Federal Republic of Germany.
Sharing his vision for agricultural development, Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam said that Vietnam is moving towards ecological and sustainable agriculture, not chasing output but focusing on quality and environmental protection. “To achieve this goal, we are promoting domestic resources, with international support, especially from partners with technological strengths such as Germany,” the Deputy Minister emphasized.
Regarding cooperation with Germany in general and Thuringia state in particular, the Deputy Minister expressed his belief that the two sides still have much room to expand multi-field cooperation, especially in agriculture, environment and vocational training.

At the meeting, leaders of the two sides discussed a number of key issues: strengthening cooperation in the fields of agriculture and environment; sharing the potential for science and technology transfer in production; promoting cooperation projects, training high-quality human resources in agriculture; and connecting businesses of both sides to expand trade and investment opportunities.
In the field of vocational training, Vietnam acknowledged the effectiveness of cooperation programs and wished to continue expanding the model between vocational schools in Vietnam and the state of Thuringia.
“In the coming time, the two sides need to continue exchanging lecturers and vocational training experts, including Vietnamese agricultural extension workers, to learn practical experience, transfer technology and support farmers to improve their skills.
In addition, I propose that the state of Thuringia consider transferring vocational training programs in mechanics, biotechnology, digital technology and mechanics to suit the needs in Vietnam. At the same time, recognize equivalent training certificates so that Vietnamese students have job opportunities in Germany," said Deputy Minister Nam.

Agreeing with the cooperation orientations outlined by Vietnam, Secretary of State Marcus Malsch affirmed that the state will focus on supporting Vietnam in training highly skilled workers in the agricultural sector.
According to him, Germany currently has 14 typical green agriculture professions and a team of experienced teachers, so the two sides can completely expand the exchange program for students and vocational trainees to learn from each other. “We want not only to help farmers cultivate more effectively, but also to create conditions for them to access and learn new technologies and methods in the agricultural value chain,” he emphasized.
The state of Thuringia said it would seek vocational training facilities that meet Vietnam’s needs and support the idea of organizing a Vietnam-Germany Forum on career transition and agricultural human resource development. The state is also willing to coordinate in organizing seminars and field trips to share experiences in farming and gardening.

Regarding vocational certificates for Vietnamese students, Mr. Malsch said that he would consider the option of recognizing equivalence and assign experts to supervise the training program to ensure quality. He also shared that Germany has many experts in the fields of fertilizers, agricultural product preservation, especially long-term rice preservation techniques, which he believes Vietnam will be interested in.
“In terms of cooperation potential, the state of Thuringia has a rich agricultural sector, with large-scale specialized farms (some units are up to 6,000 hectares), and a team of production experts and agricultural economists. We welcome Vietnamese agricultural extension officers to visit and learn, and hope to soon visit Vietnam's agricultural sector,” the State Secretary said.
At the meeting, PETKUS Technologie GmbH shared about modern solutions in rice processing and preservation, helping to maintain the value and quality of products for a long time, thereby contributing to improving farmers' livelihoods. The company representative expressed the desire to cooperate with Vietnam in technology transfer and developing a sustainable agricultural value chain.
